Whenever I curl a pony's hair, I use the straw tecnique that I seem to read about everywhere. But the results just don't give off that "new from the packet 80s" effect. Does anybody know how to make "original-type" curls??

I always use a curling iron with tons of water or detangler spray on the hair and on low. It hasn't melted hair and makes currls instantly (one curl should be left in the iron til hair nearly dry), I am too impatient for overnight drying.

I haven't replied to this thread before because, I'm ashamed to say, I had no idea how to curl hair either! I shall certainly be trying some of these techniques though.

I have just been trying to curl the hair of some of my SLH Ponies, and I'm pleased to say it's working relatively well, considering I've only just started. My new technique is washing the hair, using a ton of conditioner to make sure it's silky smooth, wrap around pencils and tie with rubber bands. Leave overnight. See how it works. The trouble is the curls fall out after a few days. But I'm scared to use any kind of heat in case I melt their hair!!! I shall take some photos of Daffidazey tomorrow. The batteries are dead in my camera right now.
