So let us begin with the heart of UK printed pony fables - the annuals, which delighted children at Christmas-time between the years of 1986 and 1994.

My Little Pony Annual 1986
Hello, Baby Cotton Candy
1. Baby Cotton Candy loved anything that was really sweet to eat. One day, she wrinkled her nose. "I can smell honey!"
2. Sure enough, hanging from a branch was a beehive. "I will eat all the honey in it," said Baby Cotton Candy, licking her lips.
3. So she stood up on her hind legs, and leant her front hoofs against the tree. Then she knocked down the beehive. BONK!
4. Suddenly, a swarm of angry bees chased after her. "Sorry!" cried Baby Cotton Candy. "I had better leave your honey alone!"
A Honey Tea For Baby Blossom
Baby Blossom loves honey, so Tootsie has made her a lovely honey tea. But the baby pony doesn't know which path to take through the meadow. Can you find the right one, so that she can get to the stable before all the other ponies?
A Lift Home For Twinkles
1. "Come on!" called Windy to all the other ponies one day. "Let's go down to the beach. We can take a picnic with us!"
2. "May I come too?" asked Twinkles, the cat. "Do let me! I've never been before." Peachy nodded to her. "Of course you can!"
3. So off they all went. Applejack took some nice, red apples for everyone, while Peachy filled up a big bag with grass.
4. When they arrived, the ponies hadlots of fun cantering up and down the beach. Twinkles preferred to play in the sand.
5. Soon, they all settled down to eat the picnic. Peachy shared out the grass. It was green and juicy. The ponies loved it.
6. There was even a bowl of creamy milk for Twinkles. Suddenly, it began to rain. "We must run back home!" called Peachy.
7. It was no bother for the fast ponies. But little Twinkles could not keep up. "I am so tired!" she puffed. "Please wait!"
8. Peachy had an idea. Twinkles climbed into the big bag, so the pony could carry her. Happy Twinkles was nice and dry, too!
