A STRANGE PRESENT
The ponies were enjoying Majesty's birthday party in the Dream Castle garden. Lickety-Split had a special present.
"It's for Majesty really," said Lickety-Split, "but I'm sure she'll share it with everyone."
Lickety-Split kicked her heels twice and the mountains around the castle turned into...
...giant scoops of ice cream. There was ice cream of every flavour and colour. "This is the best present I've ever had," cried Majesty.
"I've never seen so much ice cream in all my life," shouted Spike, Majesty's friend.
"It looks so delicious," thought Spike, greedily. "Maybe I could just taste a little bit."
But poor Spike slipped into the ice cream mountain. Majesty and the other ponies could not help laughing.
"That will teach you not to be greedy," said Majesty. But she spoke gently, poor Spike had had a fright.
Spike was covered in ice cream. Majesty carried him to the Waterfall. "Now you are ready for the party again."
Meanwhile, Posey and Blossom made a garland of flowers as a present for Spike.
The little dragon was very happy with the garland, and he enjoyed the dish of choco-late ice cream the little ponies gave him.
THE FLYING DRAGON
One day Spike sat outside Dream Castle watching with envy as Firefly did a triple backward loop. He sighed sadly.
Nearby Medley and Heart Throb were having a race with the West Wind. "Come on Medley!" called Spike.
"I wish I could fly!" he cried. "Dragons don't fly!" laughed Bow Tie. "Only flying ponies fly!" "And kites!" added Skyflier.
Spike looked so sad that Bow Tie had an idea. "I'll tie some ribbon bows to your tail. Perhaps that will help!" she said.
But Spike didn't go up... he went into... Lemon Drop's new water-jump! "Oh dear, what happened?" asked poor Spike.
"You've ruined my best jump... that's what's happened!" Lemon Drop was cross. "Why were you running like that?"
"I'm sorry, I was trying to fly," said Spike, struggling to his feet. "What a silly little dragon you are!" cried Lemon Drop.
A big tear fell down Spike's nose. Majesty appeared suddenly. "We all have a secret wish... I'll make yours come true!"
"Peachy, please bring me the old washing basket," she said. "Surprise, some large balloons, if you please!"
Majesty tied the balloons to the basket. Spike stepped inside as Majesty twirled her magic horn and made a wish, and...
"I'm flying... I'm flying at last!" called Spike happily. "I'm the only flying dragon in the whole of Pony Land."

THE ENCHANTED MIRROR
One night, just before the man in the moon lit the stars, Majesty twirled her magic horn which called all the little ponies into Dream Castle. "What's the matter, Majesty? Do you need our help?" cried the ponies. "I will do treble backward loops, if that will help," said Firefly. "And I will light up the darkest place with my magic light," cried Moondancer. "I will give a star to make a wish come true," whispered Twilight. Majesty laughed, "No, ponies, I don't need your help, but thank you for offering it." "Then what is happening? Why are they all here?" called Spike, loudly. "Shh!" Said Majesty "Be quiet and I will tell you." The little ponies listened to Majesty, their eyes shining. "Tonight is a night of magic and enchantment," said Majesty. "Tonight, some of you will learn some of the secrets within these walls. I don't know which of you will be the lucky ones, but I'd like you all to look in hidden places to see if you can find a secret." Sparkler found a strange pebble in a dark corner of the throne room. As she breathed gently over it, the pebble changed colour. "I will put you right in the middle of my collection, in my garden," she whispered. "You will keep changing colour as the sun shines down on you." Firefly was in an upstairs room, turning treble backward loops. "I did so much want to help someone tonight," cried Firefly, as she completed a backward loop. "Oh Firefly, you've knocked a picture off the wall," said Glory, who had just come into the room. "Pony feathers! How clumsy of me," sighed Firefly, as she went over to the pic-ture. "I was just wishing that there was so-meone who needed my help." And, as she spoke, Firefly looked into a mirror, which had been hidden by the picture. "I do wish," continued Firefly, "that I had someone special to look after." Suddenly, a little pony, just like herself, only much smaller, flew around Firefly. "I am Baby Firefly, will you look after me? Will you help me to live in Pony Land?" The baby pony landed by Firefly, who nuzzled her with delight. "It's an enchanted mirror," sighed Glory. "I wish, oh, I wish I could have a special friend too." "I've been making the same wish," a little voice replied, and through the mirror stepped a tiny Baby Glory. The picture put itself back over the mirror, and all at once, all the little ponies found themselves back in the throne room with Majesty. "I see that some of you have discovered secrets on this night of magic and enchantment," smiled Majesty. "There will be other nights, but now, my ponies, it is time for sleep. Goodnight and Happy Dreams." "Goodnight, Majesty," called the sleepy ponies.
SPARKLER IS UPSET
Sparkler was so happy. She had found a golden charmn which twinkled in the sunlight.
"Are you admiring my collection?" she asked, joining the little ponies who were standing around her garden.
"What's the matter?" asked Sparkler. "Then she gave a dismayed cry as her friends pointed to the bare garden.
"Your collection's steen bolen," cried Tootsie, getting her words mixed up.
Just then, Majesty arrived with Spike. "Don't worry," she said gently to Sparkler. "I'm sure we'll find your collection soon."
Spike was busily sniffing around. "Great fire-eating dragons," he said loudly. "Just follow me, I think I might be able to find your collection." Majesty gave a secret smile.
Spike led the way, past the Waterfall where Bubbles and Sprinkles were playing, to a tiny hidden pond.
Spike huffed and puffed to flatten the tall reeds around the pond. "Here is your collection, Sparkler," he cried.
A toad popped up from under the collection. "I was trying to make myself look pretty," he said.
Sparkler laughed and gave the toad two beautiful jewels for his eyes. Then all her friends helped her take her collection back.
A NEW SHOW RING
Lemon Drop was busy making a new show ring. Many of the jumps reminded her of her little pony friends.
One was just like Dream Castle where Majesty lived with her friend the dragon. Spi-ke actually knocked at the door to be let in!
"This is my favourite jump!" said Cherries Jubilee, pointing to a rainbow arch of cherry blossom.
"Look at this hedge shaped like me!" cried Duck Soup, happily, to Bubbles. "Isn't it clever?"
"I like the flower jumps best!" said Cotton Candy. "Don't you dare eat any!" warned Lemon Drop.
"Tickle, please will you go and ask the Weather Witch to water my flower jumps?" called Lemon Drop. "The Weather Witch has gone on holiday," shouted Firefly, who was practising a backwards double loop.
"All my jumps will be ruined... they'll wit-her and die!" cried Lemon Drop. "Majesty, can you help?"
"I know someone who can!" replied Majesty. "Medley, come here do. Please bring some rain with you!"
In a trice Medley appeared on a cloud. She beat her hooves softly and a gentle shower of rain fell on the flowers.
"Look how pretty the flowers are after the shower!" cried Lemon Drop. "Now we can hold the show after all."

WELCOME TO PONYLAND
The Sea Ponies caught an enormous wave, it carried them way up high. "This is fun," laughed Seaspray, "We're almost in the sky."
"Come over here and visit me, Then you can slide back to the sea."
"Look," said Surfdancer, "It's our rainbow. We'll sit on her, then down we go."
"Let's sing with the fish," said Seaspray, "when they hear us, they will come and play."
SPARKLER'S SECRET
Hello, Did you read the story about my collection? It is fun collecting things, isn't it? I'm sure a lot of you collect things. Pony Feathers! I just had a great idea. Why don't you write to me, and tell me about your collections? You know, collections look much nicer if you do something with them. When you let me know all about your collections, I'll think of some good ways of displaying them. I might even give a prize to the person who collects the most unusual things. Do hurry up and write to me. I'm beginning to feel quite excited...
SEASHELL'S SPOT
I should really be the first one to write to Sparkler. You see, I collect shells, and I make things with them. Here's something I made after reading Sparkler's story, inside our comic. Maybe you'd like to make it too. It's quite easy, but make sure you use plastic or rubber based clear adhesive; ask your mum or dad to get you some.

THE FLOWER FESTIVAL
It was the day of the Flower Festival.
Bow Tie was making rainbow coloured rib-bon flowers, to decorate her float.
"Just three more balloons to tie on, then my float will be finished," said Surprise.
Cherries Jubilee had strung hundreds of cherry blossoms together. She was making a very special float.
"I do hope my idea works," she thought to herself.
Soon, Majesty and Spike entered the Royal Box. "The floats are coming!" shouted the little dragon.
"Pinwheel's float is the prettiest one so far," thought Majesty, as Pinwheel paraded past the Royal Box.
"Is my idea working?" thought Cherries Jubi-lee. "It must, it must..."
...the next minute, a shower of petals floated gently over Pony Land.
"This is the prettiest Flower Festival we've ever had," said Majesty, as she watched the petals fall.
"That was a clever idea, to make your blos-som strings break," said Majesty, as she de-clared Cherries Jubilee the winner.
THE BABY PONIES MEET SOME NEW FRIENDS
Baby Blossom was sleeping under an apple tree, in the orchard. "Isn't she pretty?" whis-pered a voice from the tree.
Two cheeky goblins peeped down from the tree. "Let's wake her up," giggled one of them, shaking a branch.
Somebody else wanted Baby Blossom to wake up too. Baby Cotton Candy clew gent-ly into her friend's ear.
"What's the matter?" asked Baby Blossom, opening one eye. "I want to play a trick on Applejack," said Baby Cotton Candy.
"Pony Feathers, that's a good idea," laughed Baby Blossom, jumping up. "Ouch! What was that?"
Suddenly, the two Baby Ponies were sur-rounded by a crowd of noisy, excited gob-lins.
"We are the apple goblins, we love playing tricks. Watch, we will show you what we can do."
"Look! Now you see it, now you don't," chuckled one of the goblins, as he made an apple disappear.
Baby Cotton Candy found Applejack. "Come with me," she said. "I've found you some lovely apples."
Applejack was taken to the orchard. She saw a pile of apples under the tree. She ran over to them and...
"Apple Sauce," wailed Applejack, as the apples danced around, appeared and dis-appeared. "They are haunted".

THE AMAZING APPLES
One morning Sprinkles, Duck Soup and some of the other little ponies were having fun splashing about in the Waterfall under the Rainbow when along came Lemon Drop and Peachy, looking very cross. "Pony feathers, something will have to be done about Applejack!" cried Lemon Drop. "She got so fat eating apples that she keeps falling on my jumps and flattening them!" "Well, at least I don't eat apples," grinned Cotton Candy rather smugly, as she munched away at a bunch of sweet meadow grass. "I was just on my way to take Dame Dapple some apples for a pie... she's invited Posey and me to tea," cried Peachy. "But all the trees in the orchard are completely empty... Applejack has eaten the apples!" "What a shame!" cried Bow Tie. "Don't worry, I can give you some cherries for a pie, Peachy," cried Cherries Jubilee. "Here comes Majesty... let's ask her what we should do about Applejack!" Majesty listened as the little ponies told her about what Applejack had done. "Yes, I've noticed how fat and greedy Applejack has been getting," she admitted. "I think we'll have to teach her a lesson. Majesty thought hard and then she gave a little chuckle. She twirled her magic horn and away she went to see the little sea ponies and to tell them of her plan. Surfdancer and Seaspray giggled as they listened, and nodded their heads in agreement. Then away they went under the waves to ask King Neptune if he would let Majesty borrow... something! A few minutes later Surfdancer came back with a large shell basket covered with a seaweed cloth, which she handed to Majesty. "Thank you, King Neptune, my old friend," called Majesty as she made her way back to the orchard. There was no one in sight as Majesty emptied the contents of the basket among the trees, singing softly: "These apples from the sea, Are not as sweet as can be, Applejack, they'll pinch your nose, Your chin, your mouth... even your toes!"
Early next morning, Applejack went down to the orchard again. "What funny looking apples!" she cried, as she tried to eat one. "They look like... oh... stop, you silly little crab apples, you're pinching me!" "How do you like my special crab apple tree... its magic crab apples pinch greedy little ponies," cried a familiar voice. Applejack turned round to see Majesty laughing at her, surrounded by Sprinkles, Lickety-Split, Posey, Peachy and Cherries Jubilee, who were all giggling. Lemon Drop was rolling about the grass with laughter. "Try another crab apple!" begged Lemon Drop. "Go on... I've never seen you refuse an apple before!" Applejack hung her head. "I have been rather greedy," she admitted. "I'm very sorry, Majesty. Applesauce, I promise I'll only eat one apple a day in future!" "Pony feathers, you can have more than one," laughed Majesty. "But I'll leave the crab apple tree in the orchard... just in case you start to feel greedy again!"
LITTLE BOY LOST
One sunny day the little ponies were splashing about in a little pool under the Waterfall.
"This is fun!" cried Sprinkles, kicking up her heels and sending lots of bubbles floating away into the blue sky.
"I think the village children will like these bubbles better," laughed Duck Soup, as they turned into... balloons!
Suddenly Firefly, Medley and Tickles ap-peared overhead. "Have you seen Little Boy Blue?" they called.
"Why not go down to the meadows?" said Cherries Jubilee. "He's not here."
"No wonder the farmer is cross," said Posey. "The sheep are in the fields and the cows are trampling the corn!"
"Perhaps he's gone to Dream Castle to see Majesty," cried Bow Tie. "Let's all go down and see!"
Boy Blue was not in the castle. "We ha-ven't seen him. We're making a cake for Starflower's birthday," said Surprise.
"It's a very hot day," cried Majesty. "Per-haps he's gone down to the sea to bathe, We'll ask the sea ponies."
Surfdancer was diving and Seaspray was talking to Seashell. But they hadn't seen Boy Blue either.
"Have you seen Boy Blue... is he in the orchard?" asked Majesty. Applejack, munching an apple, shook her head.
Back at Dream Castle, Majesty twirled her magic horn. She peered into her crystal ball which was lying on the table.
"Twilight, use your wishing star, show where you and Boy Blue are!" Majesty called.
Majesty began to laugh. "Twilight has found Boy Blue," she cried. You will have to go to the Show Stable.
"But we've already searched there," said Lemon Drop. "Did you search the jumps?" asked Majesty with a chuckle.
"The jumps... why no," cried Lemon Drop. "In fact, I've only just finished making a new course... it's got a hay... oh..."
Lemon Drop rushed away to the jump course and there, fast asleep under the new haystack jump was...
"Boy Blue, wake up, the sheep and the cows are in the cornfield," cried Lemon Drop. "We've all been looking for you."
"I've lost my horn... and I felt so sleep," sighed Boy Blue. "Oh, Majesty, what am I going to do? The farmer will be cross."
"Look, Medley's music has coaxed the an-imals home, and my magic horn will make the corn as good as new," cried Majesty.
"I've rescued your horn from the Silver Stream where you dropped it," said Glory to Boy Blue. "But it is tarnished."
Boy Blue gazed at it in dismay. But Majesty twirled her magic horn and whispered to the Man in the Moon for help.
A shaft of moonlight came down. The horn glowed brighter than before... and played sweeter music!

WELCOME TO PONYLAND
It is busy in the Grooming Parlour, today there's a pony parade. The ponies are plaiting their manes and tails with ribbons Bow Tie has made.
Lemon Drop is in the stable yard, watching the rehearsal for the jumping display...
...then Cotton Candy nibbles the flowers, so she is chased away.
At last everything is ready, the Parade is about to begin. There's a prize for the best dressed pony, I wonder who will win?
APPLEJACK'S CORNER
Hello, Did you enjoy reading about the tricks that were played on me? I suppose I shouldn't be so greedy, but I do look ap-ples. You can use them in apple pies, apple crumbles, apple sauce and toffee apples. Why don't you write to me and tell me about your favourite apple recipes? I'll try them all, then give a prize to the one that I think is the tastiest. Have you ever decorated apples? If you put a small amount of jam and honey over the outside of an apple, then roll it in some coloured sugar strands, it looks really nice. You have to eat it quickly though, or wrap it in clear paper, so the flies can't get it. Apples in a fruit dish look good wearing paper hats. Make some out of coloured tissue paper or tinfoil; you could stick silver or gold stars on the hats too. All this talking about apples has made me hungry. I'm going now, to have an apple feast. Don't forget to send your favourite recipes to me, will you? The address is on Your Own Page.
DUCK SOUP'S SPOT
Hello, Sprinkles and I love to watch Bubbles taking a bubble bath. The bubbles float and dance around. Once I saw Bubbles blow one off the end of her nose, it was a huge bubble and it floated right up to the Rainbow. You could make bubbles while you are having a bath, or a wash. You need wet hands, of course, rub the bar of soap between your thumb and forefinger, then gently rub your thumb and finger together. Form them in a circle, the soap should have formed a clear 'window'. Blow gently until a bubble forms. See if you can make your bubble float away.

WHERE IS THE WATERFALL?
"Oh Rainbow, whatever can we do?" cried Sprinkles. "Just look, the Waterfall has gone away."
Then, to Sprinkles' dismay, the Rainbow started to fade. The clouds where Sprinkles lived, grew long black fingers...
Bubbles arrived just in time to see Sprinkles being pulled into the clouds.
"Pony Feathers!" wailed Bubbles, "I must get help."
The pony galloped all the way to Dream Castle, to find Majesty.
Majesty was holding a party. She listened to Bubbles' news, then blew softly onto her mirror. The ponies watched as a picture appeared.
"It is Wizard Wantall," said Majesty. "He wants our Rainbow and the Waterfall for his enchanted garden."
Majesty twirled her magic horn. "Bow Tie and Medley go to Wizard Wantall. He will have a Rainbow and a Waterfall."
Through the mirror, Majesty and the little ponies watched the magic working. Medley drummed her hooves and the rain fell, Bow Tie made a bright ribbon rainbow.
As Wizard Wantall reached out for the rib-bon rainbow, it tied itself in knots and bows around him. Medley's rain fell on him too.
Majesty twirled her magic horn again, and all the ponies welcomed their own Rainbow and Waterfall hme. They were so happy!
WHERE IS SEASPRAY?
Surfdancer and Wavebreaker took no notice as the white-capped waves danced invitingly around them.
"What is wrong, Sea Ponies?" cried the waves. "Why don't you come and play?" "Come and dive off us," begged the clouds. Wavebreaker looked hopefully at the clouds. "Is Sprinkles with you? She has been looking for Seaspray." But Sprinkles was not there.
"Here is our friend, Mr Dolphin," said Surf-dancer. "Maybe he has news of Seaspray." "I'll take you to Seaspray," he called.
Just then, Seaspray arrived. "Sand and shore, I am too late to warn them!" she cried, skid-ding to a halt.
Sprinkles flew down from a cloud. "Whatever is the matter, Seashell?" she asked. "That isn't really Mr Dolphin, it is a sea monster in disguise," sobbed Seashell. "The other sea monsters have got Seaspray, now this one is taking Surfdancer and Wavebreaker to them." As they watched, the dolphin turned back into a sea-monster.
"Surfdancer and Wavebreaker told me that Seaspray is missing!" Sprinkles was worried. "Windy and I have been searching for her."
"I can't find Seaspray anywhere," cried Windy. "The sea monsters have got her in their underwater cavern," said some jellyfish.
"I can't see Surfdancer or Wavebreaker now," cried Seashell. "They must be down in the underwater cavern."
"No, they are still there!" cried Glory. "Look, they are trying to swim away."
Suddenly, a stranger appeared out of the ocean. "I am Sea Mist," said the Sea Pony. "I will help you rescue your friends." "We'll help too," cried the waves and the clouds. "And here come some more helpers," said Firefly.
The North Wind arrived. "I'll take some of the clouds and we'll annoy the sea-monster, out in the ocean."
The little ponies listened carefully as the star-fish and jellyfish told them how to find the sea monster's cavern.
"Here comes the real Mr Dolphin," said Sea-shell. "He will guide Firefly and Medley to the right place."
Mr Dolphin moved quickly through the ocean, Firefly and Medley sat on the clouds and they followed him.
Far below the ocean, in an underwater cavern, Seaspray watched sadly as two sea monsters took it in turns to see who could blow her little sailboat the furthest. "Oh stop, please stop," she cried, as the sailboat crashed into a huge rock.
Meanwhile, just as the sea monster in the ocean reached out for the Sea Ponies, a thick mist swirled around him.
A huge wave carried Surfdancer and Wavebreaker right over the helpless sea monster.
As Medley and the North Wind sang loudly above the cavern, the two sea monsters swam up to investigate. They reached greedily for the ribbons, flowers and jewels which Firefly threw. Mr Dolphin brought Seaspray up from the cavern. "Seaspray is safe," shouted the North Wind.
THE SAD PRINCESS
One morning, just as dawn was breaking, Twilight ran up to the door of Dream Castle and knocked loudly. "Majesty, please wake up, someone needs your help!" she called loudly. "What's wrong?" asked Majesty anxiously as she opened the door, with a very sleepy-eyed Spike at her heels. "The King of Cloud Cuckoo Land needs your help!" explained Twilight. "His daughter, Princess Linette, is pretty and kind and sweet... but oh, so sad! A wicked fairy put a spell on her the day of her birth so that never in her life has she smiled or laughed. The king has sent from far and wide for entertainers... jesters... jugglers... tellers of tales... but the princess never smiles. Now, he humbly asks if you will come and try to make the princess smile." "Pony feathers! What a task you have set me," sighed Majesty. "But I will certainly go to see my old friend King Cuckoopint... and I will take three of the little ponies with me!" Majesty twirled her magic horn and in a trice she was at the court of the king... with Tickle, Surprise and Applejack. "Thank you for coming so quickly!" cried the king. "I do hope you can make my daughter smile." "Let me try," begged Surprise. From the ceiling there floated down a bunch of coloured balloons... all shaped like people or animals! "Pony feathers! That looks just like the Royal Chancellor... especially the nose!" chuckled the king. "That roly-poly one is just like the royal pastry cook!" laughed Queen Cowslip. "He gets fatter every day!" "I like the little cat... he's just like the one who frightened the mouse under your chair," said the princess... but she didn't laugh! "I've brought you a little gift, Your Royal Highness," cried Applejack, stepping forward as Majesty comforted the disap-pointed Surprise. "Thank you," said the princess politely, looking at the apple the little pony held out. "Open it!" urged Applejack with a smile. As the princess opened the apple out popped a little man, no bigger than her thumb. He danced, he sang, he turned head over heels, and he told silly but clever little jokes! The king and queen and all the court roared with laughter, but Princess Linette watched in polite silence. "You see how difficult it is, Majesty?" sighed King Cuckoopint. "Tickle, why don't you try?" suggested Majesty, and she and Tickle exchanged a little smile. Tickle grinned at the princess and, before anyone could stop her, Tickle pulled off Linette's shoes and started to tickle the bottom of her feet with a feather! The court gasped in horror and the royal guards surrounded Tickle and looked at the king for their orders. But the king was looking at the princess... and the princess was laughing. Yes... roaring with laughter as the feather tickled her toes! "Stop, stop!" she giggled. "My daughter's laughing! The spell is broken!" cried the king. "Majesty, how can I ever thank you?" "Thank Tickle," replied Majesty with a smile. "And just remember, even a princess can't help laughing when you tickle her with a feather!" Have you ever been tickled with a feather? Did you laugh?

THE PONY GARDEN COMPETITION
One day Majesty gave each little pony a plot of land. "In a week's time I shall see who has the best garden," she smiled.
Seashell went down to the beach and came back with lots of pretty shells and pieces of coral, which Surfdancer had found.
"Watch the wind blow my flowers round, Majesty!" called Pinwheel. "They make me feel quite dizzy," muttered Spike.
"Your flowers dazzle me, Sparkler!" cried Majesty. "They sparkle like jewels, and your foil bush gleams like silver and gold!"
Applejack's garden was filled with apple trees. "I haven't eaten one apple!" she told Majesty. "Well done!" chuckled Majesty.
"Cotton Candy, you've eaten all your flowers," gasped Twilight. "I was hungry," replied Cotton Candy. "Quickly, wish on one of my star flowers," cried Twilight. Cotton Candy wished, and...
... "Why, Cotton Candy, what lovely flowers, they're like marshmallows!" cried Majesty. "And barley sugar trees. "How clever!"
"I like your sundial and sunflowers too!" said Majesty to Sunbeam. "My garden's filled with butterflies and bees," cried Flutterbye.
"Don't forget to look at my garden," called Bow Tie. It was made from sweet peas and decorated with bows and ribbons.
"I think all your gardens deserve a prize," said Majesty. She handed each little pony a red rosette and a bunch of sweet grass!

WELCOME TO PONYLAND
On the far side of the rainbow, Dream Castle waits for you,
Majesty lives here, with Spike the dragon too.
It is noon, a special time of day, all the little ponies come along this way.
Majesty gives them lunch, they enjoy the tasty dishes...
... then Majesty waves her magic horn, to grant the ponies' wishes.
BLOSSOM'S CORNER
Hello, Did you read the story about gardens? I made Majesty an indoor garden once. Perhaps you would like to make one too. All you need is an old metal tray, or a tin lid. See if you can buy some grass seeds, then you can make real grass. Get some sand or soil (don't use it all) and cover the bottom of your tray with it; make it damp NOT wet, thickly sprinkle the grass seeds over it, then cover them with remaining soil or sand and put them on a window ledge. Make sure your 'garden' is always damp, it will take 2-3 weeks before your grass grows. While it is growing you can be making paper flowers and collecting twigs, fir cones and tiny pebbles. Paint or varnish the pebbles then you can use them for a rockery. Plant your flowers when the grass has grown.
PAPER FLOWERS
Coloured squares of crepe or tissue paper, folded in half and then half again. Draw designs a shown, then cut along black lines.
When cut out, place fuse wire or a pipe cleaner at the point of the paper, wind cotton tightly around wire at top. Carefully open your flower out and decorate it.
POSEY'S SPOT
Now is the time to plant tulips indoors. Put some damp fibre in the bottom of a bowl, then arrange tulip bulbs fairly close together. Cover with more fibre, leaving tops of bulbs just showing. Keep your tulip bulbs moist and in the dark. As soon as they start to grow, bring them out to the light, still keeping them moist. Your tulips should flower early in the year.

ONE AUTUMN DAY
One bright Autumn day Majesty and the little ponies went off to Larkspur Wood to catch the first leaves dropping from the trees. "Make a wish as you catch the leaf!" cried Majesty.
"I can't catch a leaf." wailed Tootsie. "Here, catch this one!" cried Gusty kindly, blowing it very slowly.
"I've made my wish... I want enough apples to last me all winter!" cried Applejack.
"No one's beaten my conker yet!" boasted Sparkler. "'Cos it's as hard as a diamond... that was my wish!"
"I wish it would snow..." began Powder. "Not for months yet!" said Majesty, quickly twirling her horn.
"I wish my bulbs will be safe until spring," cried Posey, nibbling a leaf as she called goodbye to the swallows.
Suddenly Gusty heard someone crying. She looked up and there was a little squirrel. "What's wrong?" asked Gusty.
"I've forgotten where I've hidden my nuts," sobbed the squirrel. "He's always forgetting things!" laughed the dormouse.
"That's because you haven't got your thinking cap on," cried Majesty, twirling her horn at the squirrel.
Suddenly a brightly coloured cap appeared on the squirrel's head. "I've never had a thinking cap on before!" he cried.
"Does it help?" asked Gusty eagerly. "Oh yes, I can remember everything now!" cried the squirrel.
"Could I have a thinking cap too?" asked the dormouse. "Then I can remember when to wake up in the spring!"
The squirrel and the dormouse settled down happily together, Medley's sweet music sent them off to sleep.
A SHOCK FOR TWINKLES
The little ponies were in the courtyard of Dream Castle, enjoying their midday feast of molasses, oats and corn.
Peachy smiled happily, as she trotted away from Majesty. She had something exciting to tell her friends.
"I'm having a party tomorrow night," Peachy told Cherries Jubilee, "and everyone must wear pyjamas."
Spike and Twinkles felt cross. They didn't have any pyjamas. That meant they could not go to Peachy's party.
Everywhere Spike went, he heard the little ponies talking about the party. "I will go to the party," he thought angrily.
The little dragon ran all the way to the Show Stable, and hid in one of Lemon Drop's jumps.
When it was dark, Spike crept into the Grooming Parlour. He was going to find a pair of Peachy's pyjamas.
Suddenly, something white floated down onto Spike. "Help!" shouted Twinkles, waking up quickly. "It's a ghost."
Peachy woke up and ran to see what the noise was. How she laughed to see Spike wearing her white hat.
"I wanted to borrow some pyjamas, so that I could come to the party," explained Spike.
"These pyjamas are for you, Twinkles and Brandy," said Peachy. "Of course you can come to the party."

STORY REQUESTS
"A Shock for Twinkles" is especially for Nicola Bendall of Southampton and to Christina Maugham from Andrea Baines. There will be more story requests soon.
THE MESSAGE IN THE BOTTLE
One day Seashell was watching Surfdancer and Seaspray practising diving from high breakers into the sea. "Pony feathers, you are clever!" she gasped as Surfdancer hit the waves with a big splash. "Oh, look there's a bottle floating towards us on the waves!" Surfdancer swam towards the bottle and picked it up. "There's a piece of paper inside,"she cried, pulling it out. "What does it say?" asked Seashell curiously. "It says:
SOS SOS, little ponies, I'm in great distress! I'm marooned here on a treasure isle. Away from my home many a mile!"
said Surfdancer. "But it isn't signed. I wonder who needs our help?" "Pony feathers, there's one way to find out!" cried Seaspray. "Climb into my boat and we'll all go to the treasure island and find out!" So the three little pony friends set off in the boat. But when they reached the island, no matter how they tried they just could not land the boat. "It's as if there's a spell around the island," said Seashell at last. "Yes, there is... King Neptune won't let me leave!" cried a little voice. "Pixie Pippin, what are you doing here?" called Seaspray. "You are miles away from Pixie Town!" Pippin hung his head, but before he could answer they heard the sound of wings. Firefly appeared with Skydancer. "Pippin has been very naughty," explained Firefly. "He came to gather pieces of coral and pearl oyster shells without asking King Neptune's permission first!" "And the Sea King says that I must stay here until I put something on the island that has never been seen here before... something that loves the sea!" wept Pippin. "But how can I do that if I can't get off?" The little sea ponies looked at the pixie, wondering how they could help. Then Skydancer called down softly, "Do you promise never to take anything without permission ever again?" "Oh, yes, yes!" cried Pippin. "Please help me, Skydancer." "Well, Firefly and I have just been to see Twilight. She has very kindly given me a star... a very special star who wants to live in the sea. Majesty has waved her magic horn over the star..." Skydancer paused as Firefly flew down to the island and landed near Pippin. Skydancer placed the star on the pebbly shore. "Pony feathers, it's not a star anymore... it's a..." began Pippin. "What is it Skydancer?" "It's a pretty starfish... the first one on the island. A little star's wish has come true, it always wanted to live by the sea, and now King Neptune's spell is broken. Come on, Firefly will take you back to Pixie Town. Climb on her back and you'll soon be home!" "Oh thank you, thank you!" cried Pippin gratefully. "And thank you, sea ponies, for finding my message."
A SURPRISE FOR SURPRISE
Surprise is one of the best loved of all the little ponies. Her smile can brighten up the dullest day. But one day...
Surprise went to the orchard. "Hello," she called to Applejack. "Can't stop now... I'm busy!" cried Applejack.
"I'll take these apples to the farm," said Surprise. "Sorry, we don't want any visitors today," cried Lemon Drop.
Surprise was very upset. "No one seems to like me anymore," she said to Nessie Nightingale. "I wonder why?"
"I'll go and see Majesty," she said. "Perhaps she'll know the reason!" But at Dream Castle what a surprise she got!
The meadows were decorated. Ribbons hung from every tree. Tubs were filled with oats and sweet meadow grass.
On a table there were bowls of apples and sugar lumps, and buckets of sweet tasting water from the streams.
"That's why everyone was busy... getting ready for the party! But no one has asked me!" sobbed poor Surprise.
Suddenly Majesty and the others crept up behind her. "Surprise, Surprise!" they all called out.
"It's your own Special Pony Day. We all have one," laughed Majesty. "Had you forgotten?"
"You have given us such lovely parties before... now it's your turn," cried Cherries Jubilee, handing Surprise a pretty card.
Posey and Pinwheel put a flower garland around Surprise's neck. "We all picked a flower!" said Posey.
Sparkler placed some gold and silver foil and glass beads on the grass. "Watch carefully," she said.
Majesty twirled her horn and the trinkets turned into a glittering crown. "You are our Pony Queen today."
Bubbles burst and showered Surprise with tiny flowers. "Happy Pony Day!" cried Bubbles and Confetti.
"These bubble flowers taste delicious!" cried Cotton Candy, munching away. "Eat as many as you like!" laughed Surprise.
"This is for you!" cried Bow Tie. "We hope you like it!" "I'm sure I shall!" cried Surprise.
Surprise opened the box and gave a cry of delight. "What a beautiful cake! Thank you all very much!"
From the seashore the sea ponies sent their greetings. "We're sending you a gift," they cried.
Even Twilight made a rare daytime visit. "Wish on this star, I will make it come true for you," she promised Surprise.
Majesty and the other ponies formed a circle and danced around Surprise. "happy, happy day, good luck to you on your pony day. Make a wish, it will come true. Happy Pony Day to you!" they cried.
A Royal pony's home is her castle
You wouldn't expect to find Majesty, the Royal Unicorn, living in an ordinary house. Instead she lives in this magnificent mythical castle. It has battlements she can walk along to survey her kingdom, towers with rooms in them, and a working drawbridge to let in her visitors. Inside, there is a Royal treasure chest for the Royal Crown, a Royal shoe-box with four Royal horseshoes, and an enchanted mirror and brush for grooming Majesty's silvery blue mane and tail. There are goblets, penants and a banqueting table for when the other ponies come to a Royal fancy dress ball at the castle. Hoops for the ponies to jump through at Royal Tournaments. A throne, crown and cape for Majesty to wear on state occasions. And last but not least, a friendly little dragon called Spike who has his own working lift to the battlements. My Little Pony Dream Castle comes complete with Majesty the Royal Unicorn, Spike and all accessories shown for around 30.00.
WELCOME TO PONYLAND
"My name is Skydancer, the wind makes music for me. When I'm dancing on the clouds, I'm as happy as can be."
"We love to watch Skydancer, as she dances to her band, we think she's the prettiest ballerina, here in Pony Land."
"I'm going to dance on the Rainbow, over the Waterfall...
... some of my pony friends are there, can you hear them call?"
GUSTY'S CORNER
Hello, I think Autumn is the nicest time of the year. One of my favourite hobbies is col-lecting all the different coloured leaves, there's such a lot of things to do with them. I'm lucky, I can use my magic to help me make things, but there are a lot of things you could make without using magic!
AN AUTUMN TREE: Collect some leaves of different shapes, colours and sizes. Paint a picture of a tree trunk, or bran-ches, on a large piece of white paper. When your painting is dry, stick different leaves onto your painted branches.
LEAF PRINTS:
You will need an old newspaper, some soft crayons and a sheet of white paper. Choose leaves of different shapes and sizes, try to use leaves which are not damaged. Put your leaves onto the newspaper, with the veins on the back of the leaves face upwards. Place your white paper over them, holding it firmly in place. Then, with a soft crayon rub lightly backwards and forwards across the paper. This will give you a print of the vein patterns on the leaves. You could make each leaf print a different colour. Why don't you send your leaf prints to me? There will be a prize for the best one, and I will hang the rest up in the Show Stable for all the ponies to look at.
SUNBEAM'S SPOT
We have a lot of parties in Pony Land, and I am often asked to think of good ideas for games. Reading Gusty's corner gave me a good idea for a fancy dress party. I am going to have this party in two weeks time and all the little ponies must come dressed up as an Autumn Picture. I am going to thread leaves onto a long string, then I'll plait the string through my tail and mane. I think I will make some acorn and conker bracelets and necklaces too. If you would like to make some, ask someone older to help you. You will have to make holes right through your conkers and acorns, with a knitting needle. Paint or polish the conkers and acorns, then thread them onto a length of plaited wood.

Merry Music
One day, the ponies were all busy practising for the concert they were giving to King Merry in Music Land. They had chosen their own instruments... and what a wonderfully magic sound they made!
"Pony feathers, Wavebreaker, don't blow so hard!" pleaded Majesty. "And Tootsie, just a little crash, please!"
"Oh, tthat's better!" she cried, smiling happily at Heart Throb. "Your music is very sweet!"
"What about my maracas... don't they set your hooves dancing?" cried Applejack as she shook them vigorously.
Suddenly Medley appeared. "King Merry has banished his three fiddlers... he says he doesn't like music anymore!"
"Queen Medley has sent for your help!" cried Firefly, turning a double loop as she spoke.
"No music in Music Land... how silly!" cried Majesty. "Come on, ponies, we must go there at once!"
Majesty twirled her magic horn and a moment later they were in the royal garden.
"You're wasting your time," said King Merry rudely to Majesty. "Music gives me a headache now and besides... oh!"
"Pony feathers!" cried Majesty. "I know why you are cross, my old friend! You've got toothache!"
Majesty twirled her horn and said softly, "Toothache go away, the king will hear the ponies play!"
"My toothache's gone... bring back my fiddlers three... and let me hear the ponies play!" ordered the king.
Later the king and Majesty led the ponies in a dance while the fiddlers played merrily!
THE SILVER CHALLENGE CUP
One day Majesty arrived at the Show Stable with a silver cup for the special jumping show.
All the ponies were eager to win the cup. "You will win as usual!" cried Trickles to Lemon Drop.
"A clear round wins!" said Majesty. "Take your time, ponies, and jump carefully... everyone has a chance to win my cup."
All the ponies jumped clear at the first fence... but Cotton Candy stopped to eat a flower... and was disqualified!
Bubbles was jumping well but then she fell at the water jump... and started to have a bath!
"Hello, Cherries Jubilee!" called the lovebirds. Cherries Jubilee stopped to chat... Lemon Drop passed her.
"Come on, Bow Tie," called Firefly. Bow Tie stopped to tie one of her ribbons... and Posey caught her up.
"There's only Peachy and me in the race now!" laughed Lemon Drop, looking over her shoulder. "I'm sure to win!"
"Come on, Lemon Drop!" cried Brandy. Lemon Drop pulled up sharply... and sat down... on a bunch of nettles!
The last jump looked high! Peachy closed her eyes and jumped. "You've done it... you've won!" mewed Twinkles.
"I don't think I'll be able to sit down for a week," grumbled Lemon Drop. "But congratulations, Peachy, the best little pony won!"

THE UNINVITED GUEST
Sunbeam felt very excited. It was the day of her fancy dress party. She had invited all the little ponies in Pony Land and told them that they must dress up as an Autumn Picture. Gusty had helped Subeam with the invitations, she had blown party cards all over Pony Land so that the flowers, the trees, the clouds and the Rainbow could all come to the party too. The party was being held in the ballroom at Dream Castle. At seven o'clock the first guest arrived. "Cotton Candy!" cried Sunbeam, as she hurried forward to greet her guest. "Did you forget that it was a fancy dress party?" Cotton Candy hung her head and pawed the ground. "I'm sorry, Sunbeam," she whispered. "I did dress up as an Autumn Picture, I was a bunch of flowers..." "Pony feathers," laughed Sunbeam. "You've eaten your fancy dress." "I didn't eat anyone else's though," said Cotton Candy. "I can stay for the party, can't I? But I will be the only one without a fancy dress." Just then, all the other little ponies arrived together. In the excitement, nobody noticed a strange figure whispering to Cotton Candy. "I will make you the prettiest fancy dress that anyone has ever seen," whispered the stranger, into Cotton Candy's ear. "There will be a flower bonnet for your head, but you must promise to let me hide inside it." "You're too big," said Cotton Candy. "Shh! Watch. I can make myself go as tiny as I want to." Cotton Candy looked down at the floor, to a figure no bigger than her hoof. "All right," she giggled. "You make me a dress and bonnet." The very next second, Cotton Candy was wearing a beautiful flower dress and bonnet. "Oh Cotton Candy, you were joking. You didn't eat your fancy dress, after all," said Sunbeam. "You look lovely," said the Rainbow and the clouds, as they floated into the ballroom. "Come and dance with us, Cotton Candy." Medley, dressed in garlands of leaves, glided around the ballroom, whistling a dance tune. Spike, the little dragon, bounced conkers to make a drumming sound. The man in the moon jumped happily over the dancing ponies. "I can't stay long," he sang, "the stars are waiting for their turn to come to the party." "The stars will not come to the party. They have all been captured for the witch's lanterns!" shrieked an angry voice, and an ugly witch jumped out of Cotton Candy's flower bonnet. "You dare to have a party, on this the night of witches, without inviting us. Well I invited myself, with the help of Cotton Candy, and now I will call all my friends in. Dream Castle and all of Pony Land is ours from this moment on." "I did not know it was a witch," cried Cotton Candy. "First she was a strange looking figure, then she made herself so tiny..." Before Cotton Candy could finish talking, everyone was turned to stone. Except Twilight; she smiled happily then hurried outside. She reared up, pointing her horn to the sky. "I wish for my stars to come back this way, and turn Pony Land to yesterday." A thousand stars twinkled in the sky, then disappeared.
Sunbeam felt very excited. It was the day before her fancy dress party. "I must got to Witchery Woods and invite all the witches to the party," she said to Gusty. "The end of October is a special time for them, they'll enjoy a fancy dress party..."
PANTOMIME PARADE
"Nobody has come to my birthday party," Bow Tie whinnied sadly. "It's my special day and I'm all alone."
Suddenly, music filled the air. Medley floated down as a cloud, and Bow Tie heard the sound of laughter.
"We've brought you a present," mewed Twinkles. "Happy Birthday," giggled Peachy. "Look..."
Bow Tie laughed happily, as she watched her friends perform a pantomime parade. It ended with all the little ponies singing Happy Birthday. Then...
"Close your eyes," laughed Firefly, and she led Bow Tie to another surprise.
"I thought the pantomime was my present!" cried Bow Tie, as she unwrapped her parcels.
"Close your eyes again," said the ponies, then they sang another song as Heart Throb arrived with a beautiful heart made of ribbon and lace.
The ponies decorated Bow Tie with her pretty ribbons, then...
... they danced all the way to a special birthday tea.
SPIKE IS NAUGHTY
Peachy was playing hide and seek with Twinkles, her cat, in the hay field.
Spike was fast asleep in the flower den he had made, when...
... Peachy found Twinkles. "Can't catch me, can't catch me," laughed Twinkles, jumping over a clump of flowers and...
... landing on top of Spike. "Great fire eating dragons," yelled Spike.
"Just wait until I catch you, Twinkles. I don't like being woken up."
Spike chased Twinkles all the way to the stable yard where Powder and Lemon Drop were building snow houses.
"Hee, hee," laughed naughty Spike, as he chased Twinkles into a snow house. "I'm going to shut you in."
Soon, Peachy arrived. "Have you seen Twinkles?" she asked. "No. Just watch this!" called Lemon Drop.
Lemon Drop did not jump high enough. The snow house crumbled. "There you are, Twinkles," laughed Peachy.
"Spike shut me in," mewed Twinkles. They all laughed, as Spike tried to hide myself.

WELCOME TO PONYLAND
My name is Sunlight, I'll show you my favourite place to play...
...it's here, in the clover meadow, on a bright and sunny day.
My best friend is a little rainbow, it comes everywhere with me, watch and see it follow as I run around this tree.
My friend hides away sometimes, when the clouds bring the rain.
But when I sing the clouds away, little rainbow's here again.
POWDER'S CORNER
Hello, I can make it snow whenever I like. Did you read about Spike, and when we made snow houses? He was naughty, wasn't he? But we all forgave him, and we had a lovely snow party later on. I thought you might like to make some snow for your little ponies to play in. But ask mum or dad if you may first. You need an old newspaper to cover the table, a 500 grms. packet of salt, a lid off a biscuit tin, or a cake tin, an egg cup and some cold water. Tip the salt onto the tin lid. Add enough water to make some snow houses. Use the egg cup to make nice shapes. If you're very careful, you could make a castle, like this. When you've finished playing with your snow, cover it up and save it for another day.
BOW TIE'S SPOT
Did you see all my birthday presents? Weren't they lovely? I decided to use some of them to make some special hangers for my best dresses. Use glue to keep the end of the ribbon in place.
Then wind your ribbon around the wooden part of the hanger. If you need more ribbon, glue ends carefully together. When all the wooden part is covered, glue or stitch the end of the ribbon in place. Use thin ribbon, lace or wool for the hook part of the hanger. When you have covered it completely, and glued or stitched the end of ribbon in place, tie on pretty ribbon bows.
Sparkler is still reading all about your collections. She will announce her winner on 2nd January, 1986.

COTTON CANDY'S WASHING DAY
One day Cotton Candy was passing by Dame Dapple's cottage when...
"Will you fill my tub with water?" called Dame Dapple. "Pony feathers, of course I will!" cried Cotton Candy. But when she drew up the bucket, it was empty. The well was dry!
"We'll do your washing in the pool under the Waterfall!" said Cotton Candy. "It will be fun!"
Bubbles and Duck Soup were splashing about happily in the pool. "Oh dear, I've forgotten the soap!" said Dame Dapple.
"Put your clothes in the pool... I'll provide the soap bubbles. We'll soon get your washing clean!" cried Bubbles.
Soon all the little ponies were stamping about in the pool, getting all the dirt out of the clothes with their hooves.
"Time to rinse them now!" Trickles handed Dame Dapple a watering can.
"I've just remembered... my clothes line is broken!" said Dame Dapple. "I'll blow them up to the sky," cried Gusty.
"We'll keep our eyes on them," called Medley and Flutterbye, who were passing by with their friend, the Weather Witch.
Later that day the clothes floated over Dream Castle. "What funny looking clouds!" cried Spike to Majesty.
"That one looks like a pair of stocking!" said Lickety-Split. Majesty just smiled. She knew...
When the washing was dry Majesty twirled her horn and the clothes were beautifully ironed. Dame Dapple was pleased!
BABY GLORY AND THE GRUMBLEWEED
Baby Glory was frightened. She was lost in the forest. And it was raining!
"Oh, how I wish I could find a nice cosy place to shelter," cried Baby Glory.
The very next minute, the raindrops from Baby Glory's mane turned into a little leaf-covered house.
Baby Glory crept inside. The sun was shining, and there were flowers everywhere.
"How lovely," sighed Baby Glory. "Lovely?" said a grumbling voice. "You wouldn't think so if you had to stay here."
"Who are you?" whispered Baby Glory, and suddenly, the leaf curtain reached out and wrapped itself around the baby pony.
"Nobody knows who anybody is," grumbled the leaf. "If I've got to stay, so have you." Then...
...the leaf began to lift Baby Glory off the ground. "You're tickling me," laughed the baby pony.
"I've never made anybody laugh before, I am called Grumbleweed, so I spend my time grumbling."
Just then, Baby Glory's friends arrived. "Grumbleweed, please give my friends a tickle ride,"begged Baby Glory. "Only if you promise to come and play here again," said Grumbleweed. "Of course we will," said all the baby ponies.

MOONSTONE AND THE TIRED TAILOR
It was getting late. But Moonstone didn't want to go home, not yet anyway. She had a feeling that something special was about to happen. "Maybe I am going to find my Rainbow," she said to herself. "I feel sure that I should be in Bluebell Dingle. Marvellous moonbeams, I'll magic myself there," and Moonstone rubbed her unicorn in the moss beneath her feet. The bluebells in the dingle were settling down for the night, but they soon woke up when Moonstone arrived. "I thought my Rainbow might be here," said Moonstone, to the flowers. "We were hoping you might have brought the Rainbow," sighed the bluebells. "We've been wishing for her to come, we need her help. But it's too late now." "Oh weary whiskers, don't say that," and there was a strange sobbing sound from beaneath Moonstone's hooves. "I am so tired, I cannot search any longer for the Rainbow." "Whatever is the matter?" cried Moonstone, looking down at the tiny goblin who was standing by her feet. "I am a tailor," said the tiny goblin, stroking his long silver beard. "I make all the ball gowns for Queen Twinkletoes. Her husband, the King, has ordered me to make a special gown for the Queen's birthday ball. It has to be..."the tiny goblin started to sob again. "It has to be a rainbow coloured gown," said the bluebells. "Tailor Silverbeard cannot remember the colours of the rainbow." "If I don't make the ball gown in time, King Oftencross will banish me to the dungeon," sighed the goblin. "When is the birthday ball?" asked Moonstone. "That's the whole trouble," wailed the goblin. "It's tonight!" Suddenly, the man in the moon lit up the sky. A thousand stars twinkled down, making Moonstone's tail and mane shine. "Rainbow colours," cried the bluebells. "Look, Tailor Silverbeard, Moonstone is wearing rainbow colours." "But I have no material with colours like that," said the goblin. "Oh dear, I really will be banished to the dungeon." Moonstone pointed her unicorn to the sky. "Magic, magic, hear my call. Please make rainbow colours fall." Moonbeams, all the colours of the rainbow, floated down, the tiny goblin gathered them up. "I will make the prettiest gown I have ever made," he said, in delight. Then, he began to wail again. "I have no thread fine enough to use on moonbeam material." "Pony feathers! That's no problem," laughed Moonstone. "Use the hair from my tail and mane, and from your own silver beard." Moonstone and the bluebells watched Tailor Silverbeard as, in no time at all, he turned the moonbeam material into the finest ball gown they had ever seen. "Oh, I do wish I could come to the birthday ball, and see Queen Twinkletoes dressed in her rainbow," said Moonstone. The tiny goblin laughed. "I can grant your wish," he said. "King Oftencross lets me take as many guests as I like to the balls and parties he holds. Tonight, I shall take only you, Moonstone, you will be my guest of honour." "I knew I would find my Rainbow tonight," sighed Moonstone, later on. "Queen Twinkletoes is wearing it."
MOONDANCER'S MISCHIEVOUS MAGIC
Cotton Candy looked longingly at the wild flowers and bluegrass. They belonged to Moondancer, but perhaps...
... "Moondancer won't notice if I just nibble one flower," thought Cotton Candy.
Soon, Moondancer arrived. "Oh, Cotton Candy! How could you be so greedy?" said Moondancer, crossly.
"I only meant to taste one, I won't do it again," said Cotton Candy.
"You will not be able to," cried Moondancer, "I am going to..."
Moondancer laughed, she had put a sleeping spell on poor Cotton Candy.
Later, the little ponies were searching the stable for Cotton Candy. "I'll have another look inside," said Bow Tie.
"She isn't in the meadow." said Cherries Jubilee, hurrying up to Peachy. "Here is Starflower, maybe she has seen Cotton Candy.
"We have searched everywhere," Peachy told Starflower. "Don't worry, I know where to look," said Starflower.
Starflower chuckled to herself, as she hurried to the forest. "I am sure I'll find her eating bluegrass."
When Starflower reached the forest, she saw Moondancer sleeping on a bed of soft green moss.
"Moondancer, wake up!" said Starflower. "Cotton Candy is missing, have you seen her?"
Moondancer gave a mischievous snort. "Of course I've seen her. She was eating my flowers, I put a sleeping spell on her."
"Her friends are very upset, Moondancer," said Starflower gently. "Won't you free her from the spell?"
"I don't know if I can remember the words to wake her up," said Moondancer.
But Moondancer was only joking. She pointed her horn to the sky; Cotton Candy woke up and looked at her...
... "Don't put any more spells on me," cried the little pony. "I am sorry, Moodancer, I promise I won't eat your flowers again."
"Hurry up!" called Starflower. "All your friends are at the stable, looking for you."
"I will put one more spell on you," said Moondancer to Cotton Candy. "But I said I was sorry," wailed Cotton Candy.
"Don't worry, this is a nice spell," giggled Moondancer, "a blowing spell. The wind will blow you all the way home."
"Ooh!" shouted Cotton Candy, as the wind blew her into the stable yard. "That was a lovely spell." Peachy and Cherries Jubilee were glad to see their little friend.

There's an orchard beyond Dream Castle, where the finest fruit trees grow.
Applejack is often there, she loves apples so.
"Oh dear," sighs Flutterbye, "those apples are for our tea. I'll stop Applejack from eating them, just you wait and see."
Butterflies landing on her Applejack. "Ooh," she cries, "what's on my back?"
"They will stop you eating by and by.: Medley laughed from her cloud, and said, "So will I."
BABY SURPRISE'S CORNER
Hello, Sometimes we have balloon parties. We play lots of games with the balloons, we even have a balloon race. But we don't run-the balloons do. I'll tell you how to play the balloon race, then you can play it too. You need a long balloon and a paper bag, for each player. Oh, you'll need some felt tip pens or crayons too. Choose which pony you want to be, I hope lots of you choose me, and draw her picture onto the paper bag. Don't forget to colour us in. Then, you all stand in a line with your long balloon, don't blow it up yet, and your pony picture. Somebody must shout 'GO'. Blow up your balloon, hold the end of it to stop the air escaping. Put your paper bag pony picture on the other end of the balloon. Let your balloon go and the one that goes furthest is the winner. Did I win? Do write to me and tell me if I did. Or maybe, you know some good balloon games. If you tell me about them, we could play them at our next party.
BABY GLORY'S SPOT
Hello, Wasn't the Grumbleweed funny? You could make some Grumbleweeds. You will need some cardboard, old cereal boxes will do, some glue and some scissors. And, of course, some leaves. Look for some big green leaves for their faces, hands, feet and hair. Make your Grumbleweeds by sticking your leaves onto the cardboard, in Grumbleweed shapes. When the glue is dry, cut your Grumbleweeds out. Cut a thick T shape from the cardboard, one for each Grumbleweed, and stick the T on the back of the Grumbleweed to make it stand up.

LITTLE PONY CIRCUS
One day the little ponies were busy practising for the circus show that they were going to give to the baby ponies...
"Welcome to the little pony circus!" cried Majesty. "Our first act is Lemon Drop with her clever dog, Brandy!"
Next came Bow Tie twirling her coloured ribbons in a myriad of patterns.
"Isn't it exciting?" whispered Spike to Twinkles. "Great dragons, look at Parasol on the tightrope!"
"Pony feathers, Parasol's falling!" gasped Glory as she watched. "Oh dear, what shall we do?" she cried.
"Don't worry, I'm all right!" laughed Parasol as she floated down gently and gave a graceful little bow.
"What's next?" cried Spike, looking at his programme. "Oh, the clowns, Cotton Candy and Tootsie!"
As Tootsie bent down Cotton Candy pressed a button and covered Tootsie with a spray of water!
"Stop that!" cried Tootsie pretending to be angry, and she hit Cotton Candy with her lollipop.
"Here come our clever flying ponies!" cried Glory, as Medley and Firefly bounced up and down on the trampoline.
The two ponies jumped in the air and Firefly turned a treble somersault. How everyone gasped!
"That was the best trick of all!" shouted Spike. "I think they were all good!" cried Majesty as the little ponies all took their final bow. "Well done, little ponies!"
SKYFLIER'S MAGIC KITE
Skyflier had just finished making a new kite. "There's no wind today," she thought. "I won't be able to fly my kite, unless..."
Skyflier found herself at the very top of a high mountain. "My wish came true," she laughed. "This must be the only place in Pony Land where it is windy." Soon, her kite was flying high in the sky.
Suddenly, a dozen tiny little figures slid down the kite string. "Please, you've got to help us," they said to Skyflier.
"We are the wind wavers, and the Wind Wizard is after us. Look! He's coming."
"He wants to put us in his ships in bottles, and make us wave the ships' sails," said the tiniest wind waver. "Climb back up the string and get into the kite," said Skyflier.
The Wind Wizard landed with a thud beside Skyflier. He towered over her. "I'll take this." He snatched the kite.
"I can use it to catch wind wavers," he said. "I'll put them inside my ships in bottles." Skyflier closed her eyes.
"Jump, wind wavers," called Skyflier. And as they jumped out of the kite, it picked the Wind Wizard up and carried him away.
Skyflier took the tiny wind wavers to live in the meadows. "We'll wave the wind whenever you like," they said.

MAZE PUZZLE
There are lots of pretty kites in the sky today! Can you find out which kite Skyflier is flying? Answer: pink kite.
HEART THROB AND THE LAVENDER LADY
Spike the dragon stamped his feet impatiently as he waited in the courtyard of Dream Castle. "Dragon in distress!" he shouted. "Heart Throb, where are you? You are supposed to be here, waiting for the Lavender Lady." "Here I am, Spike, I've been finishing the lace hearts to put the lavender in," and Heart Throb landed neatly beside the angry dragon. "Lavender Lady isn't here yet, is she?" "No," admitted Spike. "But she soon will be, and I want you to exchange your lace hearts and her lavender quickly. Then, she will come and tell you some stories. Fire eating dragons! Her stories ae so exciting, I can hardly wait." "Tell me again, what I must do," said Heart Throb. "Remember, I have never met Lavender Lady before. Majesty usually gives her the lace hearts. I'm only doing it this time, because she is on holiday." "Well," said Spike, "It's ever so easy. You give her half your lace hearts, she gives you half her lavender. Then, she comes to me in the throne room, and while she is making lavender bags, she tells me stories. Fire eating dragons! Her stories..." "All right," laughed Heart Throb, "I've heard that bit before. You go to the throne room, Spike, I think I can hear someone arriving." "It's her," hissed the dragon, as he screwed up his eyes and peered through the large gates. "I'll see you later."
"Hello, my dear," quavered Lavender Lady, as she came into the courtyard. "I have brought some extra special lavender today. If we place it inside Majesty's pillow, she will have the most beautiful dreams. Just think what a lovely present that would be for her." "How kind you are," said Heart Throb shyly. "Let's go and do it now, we can exchange hearts and ordinary lavender afterwards." Heart Throb was in such a hurry to do something special for Majesty, that she didn't notice the wicked gleam in the old lady's eyes. "Follow me," called Heart Throb, "It's this way." As soon as they arrived in Majesty's bedroom, Lavender Lady gave Heart Throb the dried flowers and told her to place them inside the pillow. It took quite some time; when Heart Throb had finished, Lavender Lady had disappeared! "How strange," thought Heart Throb, "I wonder where she is? Maybe she's with Spike." But when she entered the throne room, there was nobody there either. Suddenly, her ears pricked forward. She could hear Spike calling her. "Heart Throb! She isn't Lavender Lady. Come quickly, she's stolen Majesty's magic pony shoes." And for once, Heart Throb was glad the little dragon had such a loud voice. In no time at all, she found Spike. "Where is she?" she gasped. Spike pointed to the large gates. "It's all right, Bow Tie has tied her up. Come on, we must get the magic shoes back." "I was just coming to visit," explained Bow Tie, when Spike and Heart Throb arrived by the gates. "I heard what Spike was shouting, and I managed to stop her." "Hand over the magic shoes," demanded Spike. "Or I will breathe flames all over you!" "Oh dear," thought Heart Throb. "I hope she doesn't know Spike cannot do anything like that. I hope she gives him the shoes." Angrily, the old lady dug into her pockets and threw the magic pony shoes down. Spike laughed as he picked them up. "I knew there was something strange about you," he said. "Lavender Lady will not climb upstairs. So when you went in Majesty's bedroom, I followed and watched you through the keyhole. And now, here is the real Lavender Lady. We will let her decide what to do with you." Later, Spike, Heart Throb and Bow Tie sat in the throne room while Lavender Lady made lavender bags and told stories. But the one story she would not tell, was the one about the person who had pretended to be her. "Some stories are better with no ending," she smiled. "Though to be sure, the special lavender she brought to trick you is of the highest quality," she nodded towards the pillow that Heart Throb had carried down. "We'll empty it out," said Heart Throb. "You take it, Lavender Lady. I would rather forget all about her, and her special lavender." And Spike and Bow Tie agreed.
THE MISSING TREASURES
Majesty and Spike were walking along, when Sparkler and Cherries Jubilee rushed up. "What's wrong?" asked Majesty.
"Someone's stolen a diamond from my coronet... look, a stone is missing!" cried Sparkler, holding it out to show Majesty.
"My brooch is missing!" added Cherries Jubilee. "I wanted to wear it at Starflower's party tonight!"
Heart Throb and Tickle came along. "Someone's taken my silver needle!" said Heart Throb.
"I promised Dame Dimple a golden feather for her new hat," cried Tickle, "but someone has taken it."
"Pony feathers, this is serious!" cried Majesty. "Someone has been very naughty! Who can it be?"
Tickle spied Molly Magpie sitting on a tree near her nest. Tickle flew up to the nest, "Look what I've found!"
In the nest were all the missing treasures... Molly Magpie had taken them all! "What have you got to say." asked Majesty sternly.
"Little ponies, please forgive me... I just love bright things!" confessed Molly, as she started to return the trinkets.
"If you have some trinkets if your own you won't steal ours! Tickle, go and fetch Confetti!"
When Confetti arrived, Majesty twirled her magic horn as confetti dropped and turned into glittering pebbles!
THE MAGIC PAINTBOX
One evening Powder was walking home when she saw something lying on the ground.
"Pony feathers, it's a paintbox... but what a strange one! The colours glisten like crystal!"
"Frosty fingers, you've found my paintbox!" said a voice behind her. "Thank you... I need it quickly!"
"Who are you?" asked Powder. "Jack Frost!" laughed the stranger. "You can help me tonight."
"We must be finished by daybreak," Jack said. "You start painting the trees... like this!"
"Can I paint the show stable windows?" asked Powder. "Certainly," Jack said. "But you must paint pretty patterns."
Then they decorated the Dream Castle. Powder painted silver flowers on Majesty's window.
"Won't Spike be surprised?" laughed Powder, painting a silver dragon on a window.
"The sun is coming up... I must go!" cried Jack Frost, collecting his paints and brushes. "Thanks for your help!"
"Jack Frost has had a busy night!" cried Majesty later, as the little ponies admired the castle. "Dream Castle has never looked lovelier! Pony feathers, Powder, what a yawn! Anyone would think you'd been working all night!" But Powder just grinned... and kept her secret!

HEART THROB'S CORNER
Hello, I enjoyed watching Lavender Lady make her lavender bags. I watched carefully, so I could tell you how to make them. You will have to buy some dried lavender. You'll need some scraps of material, some edging lace, a needle and cotton and some scissors. Cut out two patterned sides or two squares, 11 cms square is a nice size. Place the two patterened sides (right sides) together, and sew neatly all the way round-leaving a gap of about 5 cms to put the lavender in. For the heart shape, leave a gap down one side of the heart. Turn your lavender bag the right way out, fill it with lavender, then neatly stitch up the opening. Heart Throb says: "Ask your mum to help you." ere are some more shapes you can make.

CHRISTMAS BUMPER ISSUE
THE WISHING TREE
The sea ponies had invited all their friends to a Christmas Party.
"Here they come," said Wavebreaker. "Look, the baby ponies are riding on Christmas sleighs." "And Medley is making the sound of Christmas bells," laughed Surfdancer.
"Happy Christmas," giggled Baby Firefly. "I flew here with Medley."
"Can we open the presents?" shouted Spike. "After the first game," said Seaspray.
Powder made it snow, the little ponies played catch a snowflake.
But Seashell felt too sad to join in the game...
"Don't be sad, Seashell, we will come back one day." After the party, the sea ponies were sailing away in Seaspray's sail boat. They were going to sail around the world.
"Time to open the presents," called Wavebreaker.
Powder and Gusty brought the sleighs along. "Our presents to you are in here."
Medley sang a pretty tune as all the ponies opened their parcels. Spike ran around, blowing his trumpet.
"Here is our special goodbye present for you all," said Seaspray.
"It's a Wishing Tree," thought Seashell, "I can see a wishing light."
As the other ponies sang and danced, Seashell followed the light.
"I wish for something special to remind me of my friends while they are away," whispered Seashell.
The light guided Seashell into a cave. There, in a tiny rock pool, were six Baby Sea Ponies. Seashell's wish had come true.
FIREFLY AND THE SWALLOW
"Firefly, will you find Applejack?" called Majesty. "She ran off when I scolded her for eating too many apples."
"Perhaps, she's looking for the Rainbow. We haven't seen it lately, and the weather's much too gloomy!" called Bubbles.
Firefly flew up to the barnyard roof. Goldie, the golden weather cock, turned in the breeze to greet her.
"Please stay," begged Goldie. "I'm so lonely!" "I must find Applejack, but I'll be back soon!" promised Firefly.
"Perhaps she's in the orchard... even if there aren't any apples," thought Firefly. And she was... but not alone!
"Pony feathers, I am glad to see you!" said Applejack. "This little swallow is hurt and can't fly south for the winter."
Firefly had an idea. "Come with me, swallow," she said. "Applejack, Majesty is waiting for you at the Dream Castle."
"Where are we going?" asked the swallow eagerly. "Wait and see!" chuckled Firefly.
At last they reached journey's end, a sheltered niche in the barnyard roof, just below Goldie the weather cock.
"Tickle will line the nest with feathers and we will bring you good food," promised Firefly. "And Goldie will have a friend!"
As Firefly told the little ponies about the swallow the Rainbow peeped out. "I've found everyone today!" laughed Firefly.

THE CURIOUS RIDDLES
One day Cherries Jubilee and Bow Tie were having fun chasing each other over hill and dale, playing hide-and-seek among the trees. They wandered further and further away from the meadows of Dream Castle, scarcely realising that they were entering the Weird Wood where Wanda, the wicked witch, lived with her troll servants who mined her jewels beneath the earth. But suddenly Bow Tie found herself held fast by a bony hand, while Cherries Jubilee was surrounded by ugly looking trolls who blocked her way. "Rubies and garnets, what have we here?" cried Wanda, squeezing poor Bow Tie hard. "Two little ponies about to steal my lovely jewels!" "Oh no, Witch Wanda, we were playing hide-and-seek and just strayed into the wood!" said Bow Tie. "We would never steal your jewels. Please let us go home to Pony Land!" "Not so fast, my fine young ponies!" sneered the witch. "I need two strong ponies to pull the waggons filled with jewels from the cave. You shall stay here with me and work with my trolls in the mines!" "Oh please, not the cold dark mines, we love the sunshine!" cried Cherries Jubilee, trying to get out of the circle of trolls. "Please let us go...we meant no harm!" "Very well, you may go, provided you answer my riddles," sneered Wanda "But I warn you, no one has ever guessed the answers...that's how I got my trolls!" The trolls nodded sadly, and Cherries Jubilee and Bow Tie looked at each other in alarm. Turning to the little ponies, Wanda cried: "Show me a bird without a bone, And show me a cherry without a stone!" "A cherry without a stone?" cried Cherries Jubilee in astonishment. "A bird without a bone?" added Bow Tie, equally puzzled. "Well, what's the answer?" cried the witch impatiently. "They don't know...they don't know...let's take them to the mines!" sand the trolls, trying to sieze the little ponies. "Oh, if only Majesty was here she would help us!" whispered Bow Tie to Cherries Jubilee. But, although she was not there, Majesty did know what was happening to the little ponies. She had looked into her magic mirror in Dream Castle and seen what was happening. With a wave of her magic horn she whispered a few words and far away in the Weird Wood something very strange happened. One of the ugly looking trees in the Weird Wood burst into flower. Birds sang in its branches and high up on one branch was a little nest filled with eggs. The little ponies and the trolls looked in wonder at the tree, but the wicked witch stamped her foot in rage. Suddenly Bow Tie and Cherries Jubilee looked at each other in delight. Majesty had supplied the answer to the riddle! "Look, there is the bird without a bone, in the egg waiting to be hatched!" chuckled Bow Tie. "There is the cherry without the stone," added Cherries Jubilee, pointing to the lovely cherry blossom! "Set them free! Back you go to Pony Land!" snapped the witch. Cherries Jubilee and Bow Tie didn't need telling twice...but they did tell the little ponies about the curious riddles. Did you know the answers?
THE STRANGE VISITOR
"Heavy hooves! How clumsy I am," sighed Posey. "I've broken a plant pot."
"More junk for me to carry around," and a strange figure popped up by the broken plant pot.
"I've come to water your tulips, Posey," said Trickles. "Who is this?"
"My name is Junk It. I collect broken bits and pieces from all the different lands. There is always somebody being clumsy and breaking something. Just look at all this junk I have to carry around."
"This isn't junk," Trickles picked up a handle from a watering can.
Just then Heart Throb and Confetti arrived. "Look at this wool," cried Heart Throb. "I wish I could have some."
Confetti was looking up at Junk It's beard. "What pretty straws, they would make..."
"You mean you can use my jumk? Oh Jumping Junk It, how happy I am."
"If you will give me five straws, I'll make a Christmas star," said Confetti.
"There's a lot of things here that the little ponies will like," said Posey. "Do stay for a while, Junk It." "I will." he laughed.
Heart Throb made Junk It a pair of socks with hearts on. Trickles hurried away to find Bow Tie.
Posey was using a wooden sthingy to dig some tulips up. "It's just the right size," she said happily.
Trickles came back with Bow Tie and showed her Junk It's ribbons.
"I can mend my favourite watering can now," said Trickles. "Look at this handle from Junk It."
"I am glad I broke my plant pot," said Posey. "So am I," said Junk It, "I like my job now."

THE CHRISTMAS MARKET
Confetti was sitting by the Waterfall making paper decorations.
"How pretty they will look around the throne room," she said. "Please make me some to hang on the clouds," begged Sprinkles.
Suddenly, two little goblins ran up and whispered to Duck Soup.
"They are holding a Christmas Market and all Pony Land is invited," Duck Soup flew round excitedly.
Soon, the little ponies hurried into the market place in Goblin Town. "Look, candy floss!" laughed Cotton Candy.
Majesty chose some Christmas bells for Spike. He was pleased with them.
"Come and have some hot chestnuts," called out one of the goblins.
Just then an enormous cart pulled by two giants came into the market place.
"Oh no! Here comes Giant Eatall, he will eat all our goods," cried the goblins.
"I smell candy floss!" roared Giant Eatall, jumping out of the cart and striding towards Cotton Candy.
"If only it would snow," moaned the goblin at the chestnut stall. "He would go away then."
"Move Cotton Candy, he will eat you too!" shouted the goblins. Cotton Candy was so frightened, she couldn't move.
Powder closed her eyes tightly. The next second, huge snowflakes fell on Giant Eatall.
He ran off, howling loudly. All the goblins cheered. Powder was given a special thank you present.
THE LAND OF CROSSPATCHES
Majesty had called some of the little ponies to Dream Castle.
"The Cross Wizard is sending a land to Magic Mountain," she told the ponies.
"It is the Land of Crosspatches," said Silvery, the moonbeam. "The Wizard put a grumbling spell on them."
"We will have five minutes to break that spell," said Majesty. "Or the Crosspatches will stay cross for ever."
"And their land would have to stay on Magic Mountain for ever," cried Silvery. Majesty twirled her magic horn...
Silvery and the little ponies arrived on Magic Mountain just as the Land of Crosspatches floated down. "The moon is too bright," grumbled the Crosspatches. Parasol gave them all a sunshade.
"There's nothing to do," grumbled the baby Crosspatches. Gusty blew leaves for them.
Tootsie made lollipops grow. All the Crosspatches laughed. "The spell is broken, we can take our land home," they shouted.
"Jump ponies! The land is moving," called Majesty. Tootsie didn't have time to jump.
Glory closed her eyes and wishes. Tootsie slid down Silvery. "I'm here," she laughed, and the ponies watched the land float away.
SPIKE THE BABYSITTER
Majesty and Spike were decorating Dream Castle. "We will have to make sure that Cotton Candy doesn't get hungry and eat the flowers," laughed Spike, as he handed Majesty a bunch of bluebells. "You pretend to be Cotton Candy eating flowers, and I'll show you something funny," said Majesty. "Oh what lovely, I am so hungry," Spike tried to sound like Cotton Candy. "I'll just nibble one or two." Majesty twirled her horn, as Spike pretended to eat some flowers. The bluebells turned into real bells and rang loudly. "Roaring Dragons!" shouted Spike. "That's a good trick, Majesty. Are you going to make the bells ring out the old year?" "Yes, Old Father Time will be coming to the party," said Majesty. "He loves to hear the bels ringing." "I hope the bells won't wake the baby ponies up," said Spike, "I've promised to babysit, remember?" "Of course I remember," smiled Majesty. "I think it was very good of you to offer. That reminds me, come upstairs and I'll show you where the baby ponies will be sleeping."
"You've opened up the Magic Room!" Spike felt excited; all sorts of wonderful things happened in this room. "You and the baby ponies will enjoy New Year's Eve too," said Majesty. "You will have plenty of company when the babies fall asleep." "I can't wait for the party to begin" shouted Spike. "Shh!" warned Majesty. "Don't disturb the magic. Come on, let's go down and finish putting the decorations up." It was ten o'clock at night. Spike, helped by the Magic Room, was telling the baby ponies one last story. "Once upon a time there were fifty-three dragonflies," said Spike, and fifty-three dragonflies flew around the room. "Make one want an apple," begged Baby Applejack. "One wanted an apple," laughed Spike, and watched as one of the dragonflies found an apple inside Baby Applejack's ear. "Find some balloons in my rocking chair," whispered Baby Surprise, to another dragonfly. All the baby ponies stamped and danced as balloons floated around the room. "I am so tired," Baby Firefly yawned. "Muddle-mane, now you've made it time to go to sleep," sighed the others. "The fifty-three dragonflies had a lovely time then flew home to bed," said Spike, tucking the baby ponies into their beds. "I wish the clock would play a lullaby," whispered Baby Glory, then smiled with delight as her wish came true. "All asleep at last," thought Spike, a little while later. "I wonder if there's any magic left for me?" "I hope so, Dear Dragon." And Spike looked in amazement at the little cherub on his knee. "I can tell what you are thinking," explained the cherub. "I can tell all sorts of things, but the trouble is, there is one special thing I've got to do and I can't remember what it is. Can you make the magic help me?" "I don't know," said Spike. "Is it anything to do with dragons?" "Nothing to do with dragons." A puff of smoke appeared, then disappeared, leaving a tiny golden key on the floor. "I wonder if you've got to use this key to to get out of somewhere?" Spike picked the key up. "Not to get out, to let himself in," whispered the key. "To let me in?" said the cherub. "Let myself in where?" "Everywhere," whispered the key. "After the bells have rung." "The bells are ringing now," said Spike. "The old year is going out." "I've remembered," cried the cherub. "I am Happy New Year, I let myself in to bring happiness to everyone. Quickly, Dear Dragon, give me the key. Your year will be extra happy because you were the first to welcome me." Spike blinked as the cherub and the key disappeared. Then he blinked again as the Magic Room filled up with his friends from the Land of Dragons. "Happy New Year," they called, and before Spike had time to reply, they were gone. Then Majesty brought all the little ponies into the Magic Room. "We've brought you a special thank you gift for babysitting," smiled Majesty, handing Spike a tiny golden key. And Spike knew he was going to have a happy and exciting New Year!

THE LITTLE FIR TREE
Cherries Jubilee and Lickety-Split watched Majesty planting a little fir tree in a tub on the terrace of Dream Castle.
"We must decorate this tree for the birds!" explained Majesty. "A Christmas tree for the birds!" cried Cherries Jubilee.
"Here are some bacon rind bows!" said Bow Tie. Cherries Jubilee hung clusters of red cherries on the boughs.
"We've brought some baskets of rosehips and haw berries for the sparrows and robins!" called Firefly and Medley.
"I've collected some thistledown," said Glory softly. "Please put it on the branches for the goldfinches, Majesty!"
"I think that's enough food," said Majesty. "What about lights, Twilight?" "Here are stars from the Milky Way," Twilight replied.
"I've dipped some dewdrops in the silver stream. Please put them on the tree!" begged Sparkler.
"Here are heart baubles for my lovebirds!" said Heart Throb. "Pony feathers, how lovely the little tree looks!"
"Let me help!" said Powder. Tiny snowflakes fell on the tree covering any odd branch with a white jewel.
When the little birds flew down to see what Majesty was doing, they trilled with delight. "No one has ever given us a Christmas tree before!" they cried. And they sang a lovely carol of thanks.
THE NEW YEAR GYMKHANA
Lemon Drop sniffed the air. "I do hope it stays fine for the gymkhana."
"Let's go and check the jumps," said Brandy. "Applejack might have eated the apple mountain." Lemon Drop snorted, "She better not have done, it took ages to make."
"Oh no, it's raining!" said Lemon Drop. Brandy giggled, he had seen Trickles.
"The rain has turned to snow," Brandy was looking at the water ditch.
"I don't know why we have a gymkhana on New Year's Day," Lemon Drop spoke crossly. "The weather is always bad." Suddenly, everywhere was covered in mist.
"I've fallen into the water ditch," shouted Lemon Drop. Sunlight trotted past, chasing the mist away.
"I will dry you," and Gusty arrived, blowing a warm breeze over Lemon Drop.
"You've been playing tricks on me," laughed Lemon Drop. "You can play your tricks this afternoon, it will make the jumps harder for you."
The gymkhana had started. Applejack cantered towards the apple mountain. "Pick up an apple as you jump," shouted Lemon Drop.
Applejack giggled and spolit her jump. She ran right through the apple mountain.
Gusty was behind the flower wall, she laughed so hard that the windmills blew away!
Brandy woofed in delight as he caught a windmill, but he knocked Trickles through the Dream Castle jump.
Then it started to rain. "It's real rain," said Lemon Drop. "Let's go in for tea."
CONFETTI'S CORNER
Hello, Did you read the story about Junk It? I am glad he came to visit us, I enjoy making things out of paper and junk. There are lots of Christmas decorations you can make, like the Christmas Star I made from coloured drinking straws and... Well, you can see for yourself if you look at these diagrams. Ask Mum to help.
CHRISTMAS STAR: You need five coloured drinking straws and some bright thread. 1 - Take 2 coloured straws and tie the ends together (Fig. 1). This will be the top point of your star. 2 - Take 2 straws and tie one end of each on to the bottom ends of the first straws (Fig. 2). 3 - Place the 5th straw across the first straws, and tie the end to the loose ends of the 3rd and 4th straws (Fig. 3). 4 - Now tie the straws together at the 5 places marked with X on (Fig. 4). 5 - Trim the ends of all straws, tie a string loop to the top point and hang your star in the window or on your tree.
CHRISTMAS BELLS: You need paper or foil bun cases, three for each decoration. 1 - Tie a small bauble onto the thread, then tie a small piece of cocktail stick crosswise about 2-3cms from the bauble (Fig. 1). 2 - Thread a needle and push it through the inside bottom of your bun case. 3 - Pull the thread until the cocktail stick holds the bun case steady. 4 - Repeat this twice more using different coloured bun cases and baubles. Arrange at different levels, tie threads together and add a ribbon. (Fig. 2).
PAPER CHAINS: You need coloured paper, scissors, glue and some glitter. 1 - Cut out strips of paper. 2 - Lightly blob each strip with glue and sprinkle with glitter, allow to dry for a while. 3 - Make a ring from one strip, sticking one end over the other. 4 - Thread your next strip through and repeat as above. 5 - Keep adding to your chain until it is the length you need.
CHRISTMAS TREES: You need a long strip of green paper, a strip of white or red paper and some glue. 1 - Fold your strip of green paper over and over (Fig. 1). 2 - Draw half a Christmas Tree on the top fold (Fig. 2). 3 - Cut round the outline through all the folds of paper, being careful not to cut the places where you see a *. 4 - Unfold your paper, then stick your trees onto a length of white or red paper.

THE ENCHANTED ICECREAM
Lickety-Split and Tootsie were gathering wild strawberries from the slopes of Candy Mountain.
"I'm so hot," sighed Lickety-Split. "Let's have a rest and eat an icecream." Tootsie nodded, "Strawberry icecream," she said.
"Oh, how did these lollipops get here?" asked two little elves as they ran up to the ponies.
"My mixed up words made them grow," said Tootsie. "And look! Lickety-Split has made icecream."
"Are you magic? Could you help us?" asked one of the elves. "We'll try," promised Tootsie. "What do you want us to do?"
"I'll call the others and we'll tell you all about it," the second elf made a strange whistling noise.
At once, elves and birds gathered around the two ponies. "Speckledy will tell you our problem," they said.
"The Flame Wizard is keeping our Flower Princess prisoner in his cave," sighed Speckledy. "He won't let her go until she promises to marry him. We tried to rescue her but..."
...Speckledy spread one wing and cried, "He drives us away with his flames." "His cave is there," pointed an elf.
Tootsie called to the sunbeams to bring her lucky clover. "We're ready now," said Lickety-Split.
When at last they reached the crooked tree, Tootsie gave Speckledy her lucky clover. Lickety-Split told the elves to call out to the Flame Wizard.
"Nobody'll take my princess from me, the flames will drive you back you see!" The Flame Wizard ran out.
Lickety-Split kicked her heels twice. A mountain of icecream covered the Wizard. "Hollipops lold him down," shouted Tootsie.
Speckledy led the birds and elves into the cave while Lickety-Split made more icecream appear.
"It will take days for the Flame Wizard to eat his way out," she said, as the elves carried their Princess out of the cave.

SHABBY SCARECROW
One day as Medley and Flutterbye were flying over Five Acre field they saw a familiar figure down below on the ground. "Hello, Turnip Top!" called Flutterbye, as they flew down. "How are you today? You're looking...er...well." "Go on...say it...shabby!" snorted the scarecrow. "Farmer Hayseed's just been sowing his winter wheat. He expects me to keep the birds from eating the seeds, but I'm so cold I keep shivering, and the birds just laugh!" "What a shame!" cried Medley. "We must do something to help you! Flutterbye, off you go to Dream Castle and tell Majesty and the others about poor Turnip Top!" Away flew Flutterbye and soon she was back again with Majesty and the little ponies. "Just look at my hat...it's full of holes!" said the sad scarecrow. "Pony feathers, that's no problem!" replied Gusty as she blew a shower of leaves from the trees. The leaves settled on the hat, covering the holes and making a beautiful band of green around the brim. "Here's a new smock made from a warm fleecy cloud," said Skyflier. "I've decorated it with pretty bows!" added Bow Tie. "I've brought you some new trousers...soft as a feather!" called Tickle. "And here is a scarf made from starlight, to add the finishing touch!" said Twilight. "Pony feathers, you do look smart!" "And I feel so warm now too!" Turnip Top was very grateful. "Now if only I could get the birds to leave the seeds alone, I'd really be happy!" "Now it's my turn to help you," smiled Majesty. She pounted her magic horn at the scarecrow and sang softly: "When no mortals are about, Turnip Top may run and shout! Tell the birds to fly away! In your field they must not stay!" "Wheat and chaff, I do feel funny!" cried Turnip Top. "Can I really walk about, Majesty?" "Try it and see!" suggested Majesty with a little chuckle. So, very slowly, Turnip Top raised a leg and... "It moved...I can walk!" he shouted happily. "Go away, you naughty crows, these seeds need to grow into wheat to make flour!" The rooks and crows gazed in amazement at Turnip Top! They had never seen a scarecrow walk before... and such a smart one too! "Seeds and grain, let's be off!" cried the leader, a big black crow. "This field is no place for us... a talking, walking scarecrow, whatever next?" Away they flew to find another field as the little ponies crowded around Turnip Top and congratulated him. "Well done, Turnip Top!" cried Medley, as she waved her tail making sweet triumphant music. "Thank you!" replied Turnip Top gratefully. "Now I don't care if it snows. I'm really snug and now I can even run about to keep warm. What a lucky old scarecrow I am to have such kind and clever pony friends!" And he is, isn't he?
THE TINY GOLD WHEEL
One night Sparkler was on her way to the forest to visit Moondancer.
Suddenly she saw something shining up at her from amongst the fallen leaves. "It's a tiny gold wheel," said Sparkler. "It's the prettiest thing I've ever found!"
Just as Sparkler was going to pick the wheel up, it rolled away from her.
"Happy hooves!" thought Sparkler feeling excited. "It must be magic. I'll follow it."
The wheel rolled faster and faster into a part of the forest where Sparkler had never been. "Oh dear," she thought. "I hope I don't get lost. But I must see where it's going!"
"Don't go the other side of the banking," a wood sprite warned Sparkler. "That part of the forest is haunted."
"I must follow the gold wheel," Sparkler whispered. "I can't stop myself..."
"Shout the name of a friend before it's too late," called the wood sprite. "Moondancer." The name echoed around the forest as the tree branches wrapped themsleves around Sparkler...
... "Help, let me go!" shouted Sparkler, but the bracnhes laughed and pulled her along.
At last the branches stopped pulling and Sparkler found herself by a circle of tree stumps.
"Gypsy! What are you doing?" called Sparkler, as she noticed her friend from the woods sleeping inside the circle of tree stumps. But Gypsy did not wake up.
"Don't step inside the circle," said a white dove who flew over Sparkler.
"Gypsy's under the Wood Witch's spell. She didn't like the fortune Gypsy told her. The wheel has brought you here to help."
"How can I help?" cried Sparkler. "I'm not clever enough to break spells." "Find a way to haunt the Wood Witch."
"The dove is giving you some of his power," said the wheel. "Wish, Sparkler."
And far away in the Windy Wood, Moondancer cast her magical glow over the Wood Witch. Sparkler's wish had been answered. The next minute Moondancer arrived. "The sprites came to me and said you would need help," she said. "You wished me to haunt the witch."
Gypsy danced over to her friends. "I told the Wood Witch her unkindness would haunt her," she laughed. "It came true."
"But the forest isn't haunted any more," the sprites joined the ponies in a dance.

THE FROZEN POND
When the Rushing River was frozen over all the baby ponies wanted to skate on it.
"We can skate all the way to the sea!" cried Baby Firefly. "Come on, Baby Glory!"
"No, no baby ponies!" shouted Majesty. "I forbid you to skate. It is too dangerous!"
"Yes...the ice will crack at any moment. You could fall in and get very wet!" said Medley.
The baby ponies looked so disappointed. "Baby Firefly take this note to Giant Greatoak," said Majesty.
"What do you want, Baby Firefly?" asked the giant kindly. "I've brought a message from Majesty." Baby Firefly replied.
As he read the note, the giant roared with laughter. It sounded like thunder to poor little Baby Firefly!
"What a good idea!" he chuckled. "Come to my castle." Baby Firefly looked puzzled, but she went with the giant.
Soon Firefly and the giant were back in Pony Land... with a very large parcel! "I've brought it!" the giant said to Majesty.
The baby ponies crowded around as Giant Greatoak unwrapped... a simply ENORMOUS mirror!
And so the baby ponies did go skating after all... on a magic MIRROR pond! "The ice will never crack!" laughed Majesty.
SPARKLER'S CORNER

FEATHER HATS: Ask Mum for some paper bags big enough to fit on your head, or make a paper bag from brown paper and clear sticky tape. Cover the paper bag with feathers, placing a small strip of clear sticky tape over the spiny quill of each feather. When the paper bag has been covered with feathers you can display your feathers on your head!
FEATHER PICTURES: Draw the outline of a rabbit on a piece of stiff white paper. Use clear glue to stick the feathers all over your rabbit shape. Make your rabbit sit in some feather grass. Maybe you could make a feather picture of me? Do let me see it if you do.

WINTER WONDERLAND
Parasol was snowbathing in the clover meadow when Confetti and Bow Tie hurried by.
"Where are you going?" called Parasol. "Nowhere you'd like," laughed Bow Tie. "You're much too lazy to come with us."
Parasol lay down again and was almost asleep when Windy sped past.
And when Heart Throb flew by, Parasol decided she had to find out what was happening!
"I'll just follow the hoof prints," she thought. "I won't have to gallop to catch them up."
Parasol was so busy looking where to go next, she didn't notice the Spinning Witch until...
... "Got you!" gloated the Spinning Witch. "Now I can cut off your hair and spin it into a new dress." "Oh please don't do that," begged the little pony, trying to shake her mane and tail free.
"Show me something to please me and I'll change me mind," said the Witch.
Parasol blinked twice and her rainbow magic took her and the Witch to the Waterfall.
"Sprinkles! Please spray me with drops of water," called Parasol. The next second the water drops plaited beautiful rainbows in Parasol's mane and tail. But...
... "I've seen all that before," shrieked the Witch. "Show me something else."
"I'll show you lace and pretty ribbons if I can find my friends," Parasol blinked again.
"So, you can move us with your magic," sneered the Witch. "Show me something else. You promised me lace and ribbons."
"We'll follow these hoof prints," said Parasol, trotting ahead.
The hoof prints led to the Five Acre Field. There, the little ponies were dancing in a Winter Wonderland. "This pleases me," cried the Witch, joining in the dance. Parasol danced too, just to show she wasn't lazy all the time. Her friends were surprised!

There will be more Story Requests soon.
STORY REQUEST CONFETTI THE CLEVER CONJURER
"I do wish that I could think of something new to keep the baby ponies amused," sighed Majesty, as she stared out of the window of Dream Castle watching the rain pouring steadily down. "This weather means that they can't go out to play and they've got so tired of playing indoors!" "Would you like me to put on a magic conjuring show for them?" asked Confetti. "I have one or two good tricks which could mystify them a little." "Pony feathers, what a good idea!" cried Majesty. "I'm sure that everyone will come to your show. Spike and I will be on the front row!" "I'll look out for you," laughed Confetti. "And I'll try and do a special trick just for you, Majesty." And Majesty was right. All the little ponies were eager to watch the magic show. "Pony feathers, what is Confetti showing us that empty top hat for?" whispered Baby Firefly to Baby Glory. "There's nothing in it!" But as they watched, Confetti drew a lovely bunch of coloured paper flowers from the empty top hat which she handed to Majesty with a little bow. "However did you do that?" gasped Skyflier. "That's my little secret," grinned Confetti. "But whatever are you doing with that string of flags in your ear, Skyflier?" And, as everyone watched, Confetti drew out from Skyflier's ear a string of coloured flags, which she hung around her neck like a garland. "I never put any flags in my ear," protested Skyflier looking very puzzled. "Then how could I take them out," murmured Confetti with a little smile. "What's Confetti doing now?" said Baby Glory to Baby Firefly, as the little pony drew out a large piece of coloured paper from the seemingly empty top hat. They watched expectantly as Confetti made a tear here and a tear there and when she had finished she unrolled the paper to produce... a row of dancing little ponies! How the ponies cheered! "I'm glad you've enjoyed my little show," smiled Confetti and from the top hat she produced several paper lanterns each lit by a star which the Man in the Moon had sent down. "Here is a lantern to guide you to bed. Sweet dreams, baby ponies!"

PRINCE BERIN'S QUEST
One day a royal visitor arrived at Dream Castle seeking the help of Majesty, his pony guardian.
"What's wrong, Prince Berin?" called Majesty. "You look sad and unhappy. How can we help you?" "Enchanter Nightshade sent a nosegay of forget-me-not flowers to my bride, Princess Flora!" cried the young prince.
"What happened?" asked Moondancer. "She is imprisoned in his gloomy castle. She's forgotten all about me," sighed Berin.
"You must go and rescue your princess," said Majesty. "It won't be an easy task, but with our help you will succeed!"
"We will go with you," cried Medley, Twilight and Moondancer. "The Sword of Truth will help you!" said Majesty.
"Seek out the rose of rememberance in the Weird Wood," said Majesty. "Give it to Flora and when she smells it..."
... "She will recover her memory!" cried the little ponies and the prince. "We must hurry," said Moondancer.
"I can't see...and the trees seem to be holding me fast," cried Berin. "I will light the way," Moondancer said.
"Look, the rose!" cried Berin. "But it's surrounded by those thorns!" "Use your sword!" said the ponies.
Berin cut the stem with the sword, and all the thorns disappeared, leaving one perfect rose!
But as they watched... the colour disappeared. It turned an ugly grey shade. What had happened?
Majesty and the little ponies had been watching through the magic mirror. "Bow Tie give me a red ribbon," she said.
"Ribbon, ribbon, ribbon red, give your colour to the rose instead," sang Majesty.
"Majesty must have helped," cried Twilight. "Quickly make a wish before the colour fades! I'll grant it."
"Take us to the enchanter's castle!" said Berin, clutching the wishing star and the rose tightly! "You should have said inside the castle...those dwarfs look very fierce!" cried Moondancer. "Leave them to me!" said Medley.
Medley flew up to a cloud and started to drum with her hooves. "An army is coming!" cried the dwarfs.
Medley drummed harder and the prince, brandishing the Sword of Truth, chased the dwarfs away.
The prince and the ponies ran into the castle looking for the princess. They found her in the deepest dungeon!
"Smell my rose!" said Berin to the princess. "Berin, my own true love!" said Princess Flora.
The enchanter was so angry that he stamped his foot and disappeared beneath the ground for ever! All the little ponies were invited to the royal wedding. Medley, Moondancer and Twilight were guests of honour.
TICKLE TO THE RESCUE
"We'll have to be quick," giggled Baby Surprise. "Tickle might come and see us at any second."
"Bouncing balloons," said Baby Firefly, "do try and fly in a straight line." The two baby ponies had borrowd Tickle's special pillow from under the silver cloud.
"Down we go," said Baby Surprise a little while later. "There are the others." The pillow landed on top of Baby Blossom!
Soon, Baby Firefly was turning backward loops and landing safely on the pillow every time.
"We've been here eleventeen minutes," said Baby Cotton Candy, who was learning to count! "You'd better take it back now. I hope you aren't too tired Baby Firefly." "I feel ready to fly miles," boasted Baby Firefly.
The baby ponies were almost back at the silver cloud when a huge black eagle started to swoop down at them.
"It's the wicked witch's baby pony catcher!" cried Baby Surprise in alarm. "What can we do?"
"Bite a hole in the pillow!" Tickle called from under the silver cloud. And just as the eagle was about to pick them up...
...a storm of feathers burst all over him. Tickle's idea had saved them! "We'll make you a new pillow," sighed the babies.
APPLEJACK'S CORNER
Apple Sauce! I've never had so much fun before. You know, I had so many apple recipes to try that Majesty had to keep twirling her magic horn to make more apples grow. All my friends helped me make, eat and drink the things we made. I can only tell you the names of a few of them, so many of you sent me recipes, there just isn't room to mention them all. But we did try every one of them and I'd like to thank you all for the recipes you sent. I have kept them all and Confetti is helping me to make a recipe book. Here are just a few of the apple dishes we made: Joanne Clegg's Chocolate Apples, Faye Booth's Apple Honey Cake, Stacy Hoare's Golden Apple Flan and Anna Fari's Applejack's Surprise.

FUN IN THE SNOW
The little ponies were delighted at the snow. "Pony feathers, now we can have some fun!" cried Tootsie.
Lemon Drop had built a fence to practise her jumping. "Don't you ever stop practising?" laughed Gusty.
"Heavy hooves, at least she stays on her feet!" groaned Cotton Candy as she slipped again on the ice.
"Come and look at our snow pony now that it's finished," said Baby Firefly. "Who does it look like?"
"Majesty, it looks just like you!" cried Spike. "Happy hooves, so it does!" replied Majesty with a laugh.
"Watch out, everyone, we're coming down now!" called Skyflier from the top of Humpity Hill on the toboggan.
"Pony feathers, you take care!" cried Majesty crossly, as the toboggan came whizzing down at great speed.
The toboggan stopped with a terrible bump. Skyflier and Sparkler fell off laughing. "Are you all right?" asked Majesty anxiously. "Of course, I know exactly how to steer!" replied Skyflier. "Is that why you fell off?" said Spike.
"I'm glad someone is having fun!" said a voice. "The snow is making my job very difficuly!" It was Pip the postie.
"I've still got to climb up Humpity Hill," said Pip. "It will be dark before I get home. I'm so tired too!"
"Majesty, can we help?" asked Spike. "Pip brings us such lovely party invitations from Pixie Land!"
"I'm sure Sparkler and Skyflier will help you," said Majesty. "They both love tobogganing. Climb on!"
"This is much better than walking!" cried Pip happily. "It may be for you!" muttered Skyflier. "But we don't like tobogganing up hill... only down!" "Heavy hooves, thank goodness we are nearly at the top!" said Sparkler.
The two ponies arrived back at Dream Castle, tired and weary. "Pip has a very hard job!" they said.
"Yes, and the snow makes it much harder as you two have discovered," said Majesty. "That snow pony gives me an idea!"
Majesty twirled her magic horn...and the snow pony whinneyed and neighed! Now Pip could travel in the snow easily.
Pip delivered the mail by snow pony until the snow melted... and then the pony returned to the land of ice and snow.

THE PECULIAR PETS
"I do like coming to Flower Land," said Cotton Candy to Majesty as they toiled up the steep hill to Pansy Cottage where their old friend Dame Flora lived. "Flowers of every hue bloom all year round." "Pony feathers, yes, and apples grow on trees all year too!" agreed Applejack as she munched away happily. "Do come along, Applejack, you know that Dame Flora will have lots of apples waiting for you," said Majesty rather crossly. The sun was shining very brightly and the hill was very steep! "Look, Dame Flora's waiting for us," cried Bubbles. "Tea's laid out in the garden. How lovely! It's rather cold in Pony Land just now!" "I am glad to see you all," smiled Dame Flora as she helped her pony friends to maize and oats and bowls of sweet-tasting mountain stream water. "May I nibble a flower?" begged Cotton Candy. "You may nibble as many as you wish. I have lots of flowers... I wish I had a cat like Twinkles or a dog like Brandy too. Living up the hill means that I don't get many visitors and I get rather lonely sometimes!" Majesty smiled at her old friend and looked thoughtfully around the garden. Then she pointed her magic horn at certain flowers as she sang softly: "Dog rose and girl thingy willow, Sprays of feathery henbane too, Cowslips and goat's beard, Shall become pets for you!" Before Dame Flora's astonished eyes a little pink puppy sprung from the cluster of dog roses, while a furry grey kitten sprang down from the girl thingy willow tree. "Look at those three golden cows among the patch of cowslips!" giggled Applejack in delight. "Pony feathers, watch out for that goat!" cried Cotton Candy. "Don't worry, she's very gentlye and will give lovely creamy goat's milk!" smiled Majesty. "I'll have lots of lovely brown eggs too, thanks to you, Majesty!" cried Dame Flora, as she watched the golden hens scratching for corn at her feet. "Now you've got lots of pets... even a pink puppy!" laughed Applejack. "What will you call her... and your cat?" "Why Rosie the dog and Willow the cat!" chuckled Dame Flora. How the little ponies laughed... but they were just the right names, weren't they?
APPLEJACK'S AMAZING ADVENTURE
"Applejack, you clumsy pony, that's the third time you've knocked my jumps over! Go and play somewhere else."
Lemon Drop snorted as Applejack trotted away. "You've upset her now," barked Brandy.
The little pony went down to the Waterfall to play. But..."Applejack, you are clumsy, you've knocked my bubbles over!"
"Apple sauce!" sighed Applejack. "I'll go and find Witch Know-a-Lot. She might know of a spell that will stop me being clumsy. I hope I can remember the way to her house in the woods."
Soon, Applejack came to a fork in the path. "It's this way," she thought. "Past the crooked tree."
Applejack kept looking back to see where she'd been. Suddenly...
...she walked into a line of washing. "You've muddied all our party clothes," shouted some angry pixies. Applejack was so frightened that she ran and ran and ran.
Applejack ran until she was tired out. "I'll have a rest behind this big rock," she thought to herself.
But just as Applejack was about to lie down the rock started to move!
"Help! It's alive," shouted the little pony, and she ran down a dark tunnel behind the rock. "Ho-ho! What have we here? Another pony to dig my jewels." Applejack peered around.
"Who are you? Where am I? Heavy hooves, I want to go back home," wailed Applejack.
"I am the Jewel Wizard. Welcome to my Cave of Jewels. You will stay here and dig jewels with the other ponies."
The Jewel Wizard pulled Applejack's mane and led her to a group of ponies. "They will show you what to do," he laughed.
Soon, Applejack was breaking up lumps of rock. "Get out of here while you can still see properly," whispered a pony.
"We've been in this gloomy cave for so long that our eyes won't work in daylight," whispered another pony.
"Apple sauce!" cried Applejack. "I'll go and get help." The next minute...
Applejack banged into the Jewel Wizard's throne so hard that it smashed into a hundred pieces! Jewels flew everywhere. Then a crack appeared in the floor of the cave. It got bigger and bigger and the Wizard, screaming angrily, fell to the end of the earth.
"Follow me!" shouted Applejack. "I will guide you." The ponies reached the daylight at the end of the tunnel.
"You've got jewels in your eyes!" shouted Applejack. "Jewels from the smashed throne. Now you'll see the way home too!"

DUCK SOUP DISAPPEARS
"Duck Soup, what are you eating?" called Sprinkles, as she turned a spiral loop over the Rainbow.
"Gingerbread brought us some of her fruity fudge cake," quacked Duck Soup. "It's delicious!" The next minute...
Sprinkles slid down the Waterfall and landed with a splash. But Duck Soup wasn't there!
Just then, Gingerbread arrived. "I've brought some currant crumbs for Duck Soup," she called. "I've been busy baking all day, I needed some fresh air." "He was eating your fudge cake, now he's disappeared!" said Sprinkles. But Gingerbread hadn't made any fudge cake!
"Oh, no!" shouted Sprinkles. "Kelpy, the water sprite, must have been practising magic again. What can we do?"
Just then, Kelpy appeared. "I made a cake to make Duck Soup grow enormous. But my magic went wrong. He disappeared!"
"Try and remember the spell," Sprinkles begged. "Then say it backwards." Kelpy went back under the water. And...
"It's working!" shouted the ponies. "Look! Duck Soup is coming back." Kelpy popped up again.
"Oh, careless Kelpy," moaned the little water sprite, floating up to Duck Soup. "Please forgive me." Duck Soup flapped his wings very fast. He was so glad to feel them again! "Don't ever do that again," he quacked. Then he flew down to the ponies. Kelpy went home!
GUSTY'S CORNER
Hello, I have had fun looking at all your leaf pictures. Tails and manes, there can't be many leaves left on the ground; I think they're all here on my Pony Land pictures! All your pictures were good, and it was hard to choose the best one, but all the little ponies helped me and we chose Karen Gould of Kenton as our prizewinner. Karen sent quite a few pictures and our favourite one was the picture of me under the Rainbow. Oh, Sparkler says thank you for your letter to her, Karen.
CONFETTI'S CORNER
Hello, I went for a walk in the woods with Gusty and we found a lot of funny shaped twigs and branches on the ground. One branch looked like a dragon but when we showed it to Spike, he said it looked like a dinosaur. He went out and found some more dinosaur branches! I used lots of pieces of different colour paper shapes and stuck them onto a big piece of blue and green paper, then we stood the dinosaur shapes in front of my paper picture. Gusty blew some leaves around, so it looked like the dragon-dinosaurs were standing in them. Why don't you look for some funny shaped twigs and branches and see what you can make?

TRICKLES TO THE RESCUE
"Wagging tails!" barked Brandy as he bounded into the meadow. "What a funny game. Can I play? I'll get a hoop." "Don't touch anything," shouted Gusty. But it was too late. Brandy had already picked up a hoop.
"Gruesome growls," whined the little dog. "It's not a game. What's happened? I can't let go of the hoop."
"Everything's covered in sticky stuff," said Tootsie. "My pollilops are stuck to my mane."
"Oh Tootsie, you've made more lollipops grow and they're stuck to my hoops as well," growled Brandy. "Don't talk anymore if you're going to get your words mixed up." "They're stuck to my ribbons too," wailed Bow Tie. "I can't move."
"Here's Trickles!" shouted Applejack. "Maybe she can water this stuff away."
So Trickles hurried to the Waterfall to fill her watering can. But the water was sticky too. "Go away," called Sprinkles.
Trickles decided to go to the brook. On her way there she heard someone crying. "Oh why didn't I notice the hole?"
Under a tree was a tiny brown man. He was looking at an empty tin. "Who are you?" asked the little pony.
"I'm the sticky man. I paint the buds of the horse chestnut trees with special glue so the frost can't harm the new leaves. But my tin had a hole in it and I've lost my glue." "It's all over the meadow and in the Waterfall," giggled Trickles. "Can't you magic it back?"
"Yes, but it would come out of my tin again. I told you, it's got a hole in." The sticky man stamped his foot.
Trickles gave him her watering can. "Put your glue in this," she laughed. "Then the ponies can get clean under the Waterfall!"

LEMON DROP LEARNS A LESSON
All the little ponies were enjoying a lovely lunch at Dream Castle. "Would you like some more meadow grass?" asked Majesty. "Yes, please, it's delicious!" cried Posey and Medley. "Thank you for the sweet blossom...it's my favourite titbit," said Cotton Candy. "We just love the buttercups!" cried the baby ponies. "Thank you, Majesty." Majesty smiled. "I'm glad that you are all enjoying yourselves!" she said. "Pony feathers, Lemon Drop, you are late. Would you like some maize and oats?" "I've been practising my jumps," said Lemon Drop. "Yes, I'll have this bowl of oats. I need to keep up my strength. Give me a drink of water, Posey!" Majesty and the little ponies looked at each other in surprise. "I think Lemon Drop needs a lesson in manners," muttered Majesty to herself, and she twirled her magic horn. "Here's your drink," said Posey kindly. "You've been a long time about it," grumbled Lemon Drop. "Haven't you forgotten something?" said Majesty. "Yes, I want some meadow grass," cried Lemon Drop, drinking noisily from the bowl of water. "Pony feathers, what are you all staring at? Heavy hooves, how did those get there?" She stared in surprise and dismay at the big red 'P's and 'Q's that had suddenly appeared on her back. "You seem to have forgotten your 'P's and 'Q's...your 'pleases' and 'thank yous'," said Majesty. "So I thought I'd better remind you!" "I'll just go and wash them off in the pool," laughed Lemon Drop. "It won't take long!" But, at the pool, the strange letters just would not wash off. "What am I going to do?" wailed Lemon Drop. "I can't go around like this. Everyone will laugh at me!" "I'll try and scrub them off with this brush," said Sprinkles. "I'll try and peck them off with my beak," said Duck Soup. "Thank you, thank you both, you are kind!" cried Lemon Drop...and two letter 'Q's disappeared. "Lemon Drop, look what's happened!" laughed Sprinkles. "Whn you remember to be polite, the letters disappear." "Lemon Drop, would you like me to water your flower jumps?" called Posey, galloping up. "I'm just going to the show stable now." "Yes, please, Posey," cried Lemon Drop...and another letter disappeared. All that day Lemon Drop tried very hard to be polite to everyone. She thanked Posey for watering the jumps. She asked Bow Tie politely for a new ribbon for her tail. She thanked Lickety-Split for a delicious ice-cream and Cherries Jubilee for a bunch of cherries. When Gusty swept the leaves from the stable yard, she thanked her three times in gratitude. As dusk fell and Lemon Drop prepared for bed, she heard Majesty calling her. "Well done, Lemon Drop! You've found your manners again," cried Majesty. "All your 'P's and 'Q's have disappeared...you are your pretty self once again!" "Thank you, Majesty," cried Lemon Drop. "I'll always remember to be polite in future!" Do you always remember your 'P's and 'Q's? I do hope so!
THE BABY PONIES' SPINNEROO
Confetti had made a spinneroo for the baby ponies. "It's stopped on do," laughed Baby Blossom. "Baby Firefly, do a dance."
"It's my turn to spin it now," said Baby Firefly when she'd finished her dance. The spinneroo twirled round and round then stopped on give. "Baby Surprise, go and give that rabbit a balloon." Baby Surprise flew off, giggling happily. The rabbit was surprised!
"Choose me!" begged Baby Moondancer, appearing suddenly as Baby Surprise spun the spinneroo.
"Look, it's stopped on sing," Baby Moondancer sighed, she didn't like singing.
Baby Surprise thought for a minute. "Go and sing outside Flower Lady's cottage." Baby Cotton Candy tapped her hooves on the ground. "We'll all come with you," she said. "It's lovely in Flower Lady's garden. Hurry up, Baby Moondancer. Let's go!"
Baby Moondancer had only sung a few words when Flower Lady looked out. "Go away," she shouted. "I've got a visitor."
Baby Moondancer was surprised. Flower Lady was usually glad to see them. "Never mind, it's my turn with the spinneroo."
"Ooh! It's on dare," whispered Baby Glory, looking down. Baby Moondancer pointed to Baby Cotton Candy...
"I dare you to hide Flower Lady's broom. It's outside her front door." Baby Cotton Candy crept up to the door.
"I'll hide it in the hollyhock bed," said Baby Cotton Candy, as she picked up the broom.
Suddenly the broom wiggled and jerked! Two arms wrapped themselves around the baby pony. "Help!" she called in fright.
The broom flew high into the air, taking Baby Cotton Candy with it. "What shall we do?" cried Baby Moondancer. "We'll have to go and tell the Flower Lady what's happened," said Baby Blossom. But just then, Flower Lady hurried out. "That broom wasn't mine!"
"No! It's my broom and I want it back." The baby ponies stared at the strange figure in front of them. "Who are you?"
"She's the forgetful witch," said Flower Lady. "She's forgotten her name and how to do her spells. I'm trying to help her."
"I can't remember how to bring my broom back," wailed the forgetful witch. "Now nobody will believe I'm a witch if I haven't got a broom." Flower Lady sighed. "I'm sure there's a magic flower to make her remember, but I can't find it." Baby Glory blinked.
"I'll spin the spinneroo," said Baby Glory. Her friends were puzzled. How could that help anyone?
"It's stopped on give. Baby Blossom give the witch a flower." Baby Glory blinked again as the witch took the flower.
"Smell the flower and you'll remember everything," smiled Baby Glory. Because they both believed in magic it worked!
"I'm the Fun Witch! I click my fingers to call my broom." Baby Cotton Candy giggled as she landed. "I did enjoy my dare!"

STORY REQUEST PONY LAND IN DANGER A THREE PART PONY ADVENTURE
Majesty was cleaning her enchanted mirror when... "Pony feathers!" she gasped in dismay. "Whatever is happening?"
The mirror was filled by a huge red cloud. Majesty looked into her crystal ball. The red cloud was there too!
Meanwhile, in the forest, Gypsy was reading the day's fortune. "Heavy hooves!" she cried. "I must go and find Majesty."
Gypsy gathered up her cards and looked thoughtfully at her wheel of fortune. "I'll take it with me," she decided. Gypsy's forest friends, who'd come to hear their fortunes, stared in surprise as she whirled past them without speaking.
Majesty was witing for Gypsy. "I knew you'd see it too," she said. "What can we do?"
"Have you looked in the Book of Horrors?" whispered Gypsy. "Come into my secret room," replied Majesty.
"I didn't know you had all these charts", said Gypsy. "They're usually locked away," sighed Majesty. "I've never had to use them before. Look, I think this one shows what is going to happen. It goes with page thirteen of the Book of Horrors."
Gypsy gazed at the ancient chart as Majesty read from the book. "The red cloud found all red beings and..."
"Claimed the whole land," said Gypsy. "It shows it on this chart. But what were the red beings?"
"If I make a magic circle can you turn your wheel of fortune into the past?" asked Majesty.
"I can try, but it's a long way back," said Gypsy. "I'll put the other charts away first," said Majesty.
Majesty watched anxiously as Gypsy turned the wheel of fortune. "Send your crystal ball into the circle, Mahesty!"
Suddenly the wheel stopped. "It just tells me the colour red," groaned Gypsy. Then she looked into the crystal ball.
Images of red objects appeared one after the other. Then a clock appeared. "We must hide everything red before ten o'clock. If there is no red in Pony Land the red cloud can't find the red beings," said Majesty. "And we only have one hour..."
There are lots of red things in Pony Land. Will the ponies be able to hide them in time? Find out in your next issue of My Little Pony.
BABY COTTON CANDY'S CORNER
Hello, Did you enjoy the story about our spinneroo? I hope Emma Brewerton of Bosworth, Jacqueline Healey and Clair of Fife and Kate Humphrey of Norwich enjoyed it, because it was especially for them. You know, I watched Confetti making the spinneroo. It's ever so easy and you can make up good games to play with it. I'll show you how to make it, then you can write to me and tell me about the games you play with it. Trace this circle onto a piece of paper then stick the paper onto a piece of card; an old Christmas crad will do. Mark out four equal sections on your circle and write one command in each section. You could use Dare, Do, Give and Sing, like we did, or make up four of your own commands. Cut the circle out and now ask mum or dad to do the next part for you. You need a used matchstick sharpened to a point. Make a tiny hole through the centre of the circle and push the pointed end of the matchstick through the hole. Your spinneroo is now ready to play with. Two can play but it's more fun with three or four. Take it in turns to spin the spinneroo. When it stops, read out the command. If it stops on Sing, ask someone to sing a song. When they have obeyed the command it is their turn to spin the spinneroo. Don't forget to write and tell me about the games you play with your spinneroo, will you?
TRICKLES' SPOT
Stacy Hughes of Ashby de la Zouch asked for a funny story about me. Did you enjoy the story, Stacey? If you feel the buds of a horse chestnut tree, you will see how sticky they are. Lots of trees have nice fat buds at this time of the year. I like the yellow catkins on the hazel trees and Twinkles' favourite is...? Perhaps you can guess. Think of a name that reminds you of a cat. Draw a picture of a twig with its buds and tell me which tree it's from. I wonder how many of you will guess correctly?
Don't forget to order your nezt issue of My Little Pony. It will be on sale February 27th. There will be four more stickers for your poster!

DREAM CASTLE SPRING CLEAN
It was time to spring clean Dream Castle. Everyone went along to help...even the baby ponies.
"Thank you all for coming along to help. Perhaps you'll find my magic shoes," said Majesty.
"Yes, we know you've misplaced them," said Skyflier. "But I'm sure they'll turn up!"
"They could be under these leaves," said Gusty. In a trice the leaves became a tidy heap...but no shoes!
"I'll look in all the cupboards," said Cherries Jubilee. "Then I'll reline the drawers with this!"
Bubbles and Sprinkles took the linen down to the Waterfall to wash. "We can hang it on a cloud to dry!" said Sprinkles. "It's quite windy, it won't take long to dry."
Back at the castle the baby ponies wanted to help. "You can polish the floors, Do a good job," said Majesty.
"Heavy hooves, this is hard work!" groaned Baby Glory. "I'm sure there must be an easier way!"
"There is! Tie your dusters around your hooves like this!" cried Baby Firefly with a laugh.
"Now we can polish the floor the easy way!" explained Baby Firefly as she glided over the floor.
"Happy hooves, this is fun!" cried Baby Glory. "Hey, watch out, Firefly! You're going much too quickly."
"Pony feathers, I nearly knocked over the vase!" said Firefly. "What's wrong, Glory?"
"The dust is making me sneeze!" said Baby Glory. She gave a big sneeze...and blew the vase off the table!
"Manes and tails, I've broken the vase!" cried Baby Glory. "Majesty will be cross with me!"
"No, she won't. Look you've found her magic shoes!" cried Baby Firefly. "They were in the vase!"
"You've found my shoes!" cried Majesty. "Now I remember putting them away in the vase. Thank you, baby ponies!"
With a twirl of her magic horn the vase was as good as new. "You're the best spring cleaners of all!" she said.
My Little Pony Club Page
Hello, This week we meet two more Honorary Club members.
Sharon Larkin of Dumfries, Scotland.
Here is a photo of Sharon. Sharon will be fourteen on April 24th. She has been collecting little ponies for three years and has twenty three! Sharon likes all the little ponies but her favourite is Posey. Sharon, you'll be pleased to know that we'll soon be having a regular 'Grooming Corner' on the club page, giving tips on how to look after little ponies. As well as collecting little ponies, Sharon likes drawing and looking at other readers' drawings in the comic, and she has an unusual hobby too: breeding caterpillars. You can read all about Sharon's caterpillars in the My Little Pony Spring Special, which will be on sale March 20th. Meanwhile, here are some of Sharon's own drawings.
Fiona McDonald of Tamworth, Staffordshire
Fiona was ten on September 20th. She has nine little ponies and Parasol is her favourite one. Fiona likes Parasol's rainbow tail and mane. She often plays a game with her friend Jackie Yearl who has two little ponies: Fiona's teddy bears are captured by a monster, Orvil and the eleven little ponies have to rescue the teddies. Of course, the little ponies always manage to rescue them, but they have quite a few adventures while doing so. THE CROCK OF GOLD
One day, as the little ponies were splashing about in the waterfall, Sprinkles suddenly threw back her head. "Listen, someone's crying," she said to the others. "It's a little pixie man," cried Bubbles. "Pixie!" shrieked the little man indignantly. "Don't you recognise a leprechaun when you see one?" "A leprechaun!" gasped Bubbles. "You mean the little fairy man who guards the pot of gold which belongs to the Fairyland rainbow?" "Yes, Liam the leprechaun...that's me!" cried the leprechaun. "But I'm a careless leprechaun...I ought to be ashamed of myself... I've let the wicked Terrible Troll steal my crock of gold. He tricked me into looking up at the sky. I should never have taken my eyes off my precious crock!" The little man began to sob again. "Please, don't cry," said Bubbles. "We'll all try to help you. Firefly, Medley, can you see the Terrible Troll anywhere?" "Pony feathers, yes, he's running through the Tangled Forest towards the Trolls' Castle," cried Medley. "Don't worry, Firefly and I will fly as swift as the wind and make him give back your gold!" "Oh, I do hope they they will be in time!" cried Liam, as he watched the two flying ponies disappear. Bubbles and Liam waited anxiously for them to return, and they told Majesty what had happened as she passed by on her way back to Dream Castle. "If anyone can catch the Terrible Troll, Medley and Firefly can," Majesty said to the little leprechaun. "And when Medley beats her hooves, it sounds like thunder...enough to frighten anyone, even the Terrible Troll. Pony feathers, here they are now...and Medley has got the crock!" "Hurray," cried Bubbles, splashing about in the water in delight. "Yes, we've got the crock, but alas, not the gold," sighed Medley. "You see," she went on to explain, "we caught up with the Terrible Troll near the bottomless well!" "What happened?" asked Liam in dismay. "I beat my hooves to make him stop running," went on Medley sadly. "The noise frightened him so much that he stumbled over the root of a tree..." "...and all the golden coins were tipped down the bottomless well!" added Firefly. "Then they are gone for ever," sighed Liam. "All I have to look after now is an empty crock. Everyone will laugh at me!" "No, they won't," cried Majesty with a kind little smile. "It's true that we can't get back your gold from the bottomless well...but look around you! There is still plenty of gold awaiting you!" Liam and the little ponies stared at Majesty in bewilderment. All they could see were flowers... But, as Majesty began to sing, they understood. "Buttercups and kingcups, Primroses of yellow hue, Celandines and dandelions, Change to golden coins, please do!" And, as Liam watched in delight, a pile of golden coins appeared, some with a king's head on, others with a flower or a pat of butter, and just a few with a proud lion's head on both sides! Liam quickly filled his crock with the golden coins. "Thank you, Majesty," he cried happily. "I promise I'll never stop watching my crock again...except when I'm talking to the little ponies. I know they will never steal my gold!"
STORY REQUEST PART TWO PONY LAND IN DANGER A THREE PART PONY ADVENTURE
Majesty and Gypsy have seen into the future. In one hour's time a big red cloud will claim Pony Land for ever unless...
Majesty called all the little ponies to Dream Castke. "We can only stop the red cloud claiming Pony Land if we hide the red beings", she explained. "And the red beings are anything red. We have until ten o'clock to hide or disguise red things."
"Heavy hooves! I've just decorated all my new jumps with red rosettes," groaned Lemon Drop, hurrying away.
"The Rainbow!" gasped Medley. I must go and bring the friendly clouds to hide it.
The little ponies looked sadly at their gardens. "How can we hide all the red flowers?" they wondered. "And my red glitter tower?" said Sparkler. "What about my windmill?" sighed Pinwheel.
"I'll make some snow and Snowflake can hide everything with snowflakes," said Powder.
Applejack was in the orchard with Cherries Jubilee. "Whatever can we do with the apples and cherries?" they said.
"Tickler and I will cover them with lace and feathers," called Heart Throb.
Baby Applejack sobbed as she spoke to Majesty. "Don't worry," said Majesty. "Confetti has something for you."
Confetti had made paper costumes for all the baby ponies. "We'll have a fancy dress party," she told them. "Look, some of the others are dressed up already."
Soon there was nothing red to be seen anywhere in Pony Land. "We'll wait in the ballroom," said Majesty.
"I think we should play with yellow, green and blue balloons," suggested Surprise. "It's ten to ten."
Meanwhile Spike had returned a day early from a holiday in the Land of Dragons. He crept up to the castle's battlements and climbed onto a turret. "Majesty will like her present from the King of Dragons," he chuckled as he hoisted the bright red flags!
In a few minutes the red cloud will be searching for all red beings. If it finds anything red it can claim Pony Land for ever! Will the ponies discover the red flags in time? Find out in the next issue...
A STAR FOR THE SANDMAN
It had been a very busy day for the sandman. All the little ponies had asked for a special dream.
Applejack dreamed that she had been given an apple tree which had apples growing on it all the year round.
Cotton Candy found herself in a lovely garden...and invited to eat all the flowers!
Medley raced against the West Wind and the Weather Witch...and beat both of them in the race!
Sunbeam and Pinwheel were at a lovely firework display. "Happy hooves, just look at the colours!" they cried.
Peachy stamped her hooves in delight as Twinkles collected the first prize in a pet show. "Miaow!" cried Twinkles.
But as the little ponies slept sweetly, something dreadful happened to their friend the Sandman, as Twilight passed.
"Moon and stars!" he cried in dismay. "I shall never get home now!" "Pony feathers, you are late!" said Twilight.
"I've missed the last moonbeam home," cried the Sandman. "The Man in the Moon locks up promptly at dawn."
"Let's look for a lucky clover," said Twilight. "Then you can make a wish. There's still enough moonlight to see!"
But although they searched and searched they couldn't find a four-leaf clover. "We must think of something else!"
"Look, you can still get home," cried Twilight. "Here comes a shooting star! Catch it quickly!"
"Got it...but how will this help?" cried the Sandman. "Have you forgotten? It's a wishing star!" replied Twilight.
The Sandman made a wish...and away he soared into the sky. "Thank you, Twilight," he called.
"You're only just in time," grumbled the Man in the Moon. "I was just going to lock up!" "Sorry," said the Sandman.
Next day the little ponies were eager to tell each other about their dreams. "You look tired, Twilight," said Majesty. "What did you dream about?" Twilight yawned. "I dreamed I met the Sandman and helped him to get home!" she said.
MAJESTY'S CORNER
Hello, I was glad when Baby Glory found my magic shoes. I hope Emma Whitehead of Somersham, Angela Wate of Cousdon and Emma Naithan of Glasgow enjoyed the story becase it was especially for them. After the ponies had finished spring-cleaning, I let them use my paper fans to call themselves down. Perhaps you'd like to make a fan? Ask Mum or Dad to help you with the cutting out. You need a piece of white paper, cut into an oblong. Use coloured crayons or felt tips to draw a pretty line on both sides of the paper. Fold the paper like a concertina, making each pleat about 1cm. wide (Fig. 1). Cut a narrow strip of paper about 3.5cm. wide and 8cm. long. Paste this around the lower edge of the pleats. This will make a handle (Fig. 2). Carefully spread out the fan (Fig. 3).
Why don't you make a few fans, all different sizes? You could stick them onto a large pieces of coloured paper. It would look nice next to your My Little Pony poster!

HOME FOR A CUCKOO
Tootsie and Confetti stood in Whispering Wood listening to the cuckoo calling...
"Listen, Clarrie doesn't sound very happy," said Confetti. "Cuck...oo...sob...sob!" sang Clarrie.
"What's wrong?" asked Confetti. "Spring's a happy time. Han we celp?" asked Tootsie, mixing her words as usual...
"I need a nest, not a lollipop bush," cried Clarrie. "I just haven't time to build one!"
"Yes, everyone has a nest but us," cried his wife Clara. "I refuse to lay my eggs in someone else's nest!"
"We know how important it is for you to tell everyone spring is here," said Confetti. "We'll find you a home!"
"Here's a cosy place to build a nest," cried Confetti. "Sorry, I'm already living here," said Willie Woodpecker.
"I've found an old kettle!" cried Tootsie. "We could fill it with moss and... sorry, Mrs Robin!"
"Clarrie could have a nest down by the stream," said Confetti. "Only kingfishers and water voles live here!"
"Clara hates water!" said Confetti. "How..." "No, our burrows are too full to share with a cuckoo!" said Mrs Rabbit firmly.
"We must find Clarrie a home," cried Tootsie. "Let's go and ask Majesty what to do!"
"Majesty, we've tried and tried to find a home for Clarrie and Clara but we can't!" Tootsie explained.
"If Clara doesn't have a nest, Clarrie refuses to sing!" added Confetti. "Imagine that!"
Majesty thought hard for a few minutes. "Come inside," she said. "I want to show you something!"
"Look," she said. "My little cuckoo clock has needed new tenants for a long time!"
"Happy hooves, that will make a lovely home for the cuckoos!" cried Confetti. "We'll get it ready!"
Confetti brought moss and the softest paper to line the nest. Tootsie hung a clover there for luck.
Clarrie and Clara were delighted. "A home of my own at last!" cried Clara. She was so happy that she popped out each hour and sang a happy song for all the little ponies... and Clarrie sang in the wood, "Spring is here!"

BOW TIE'S ROYAL RIDE
One bright sunny day Bow Tie was giving the baby ponies rides in her carriage. "Pony feathers, I feel like a princess," giggled Baby Firefly, as Bow Tie pulled her carriage along the woodland pathway leading to the Waterfall. "Remember to put that parasol over your head...I don't want you to get sunstroke," warned Bow Tie. "And you don't want to get sunburned either," added Baby Glory who was standing patiently waiting for her turn in the elegant carriage which Bow Tie had trimmed with pretty ribbons. "Can I have a ride in your carriage?" asked Spike running up eagerly. "I often ride in my lift in Dream Castle, but I've never ridden in a carriage before!" "And I've never given a lift to a dragon before," laughed Bow Tie. "It'll be a tight squeeze, but in you get!" But, before Spike could climb into the carriage, a little elf came running up, looking very upset. "Oh, little ponies, can you help?" he cried anxiously. "The Fairy Queen is on her way to meet the Elfin King. But her carriage has hit a stone and rolled into a ditch. Plese can you come and help to lift it out?" The ponies and Spike hurried after Scarlet Cap, the elfin coachman, and Bow Tie followed in her carriage. "We've come to help, Your Majesty," cried Sprinkles. "Come on, if we all pull hard we'll get the carriage onto the path. "No, Spike, pull not push...oh, heavy hooves, now see what you've done! A wheel's come off and rolled right away. Try and catch it, Spike!" "I'm afraid that won't be any use, look, it's wobbling. It's been completely knocked out of shape. It would be no use on my carriage now," cried Queen Mab sadly. "Oh dear, Your Majesty, what will we do now?" asked Scarlet Cap. "The banquet in Elfin Land starts at three blows past the dandelion clock, and I know how cross the king gets if his guests are late!" "Indeed, yes, but it is rude to be late," replied the queen. "We shall just have to send the bluebird with our apologies and explanations and..." "Please, Your Majesty, excuse me for interrupting, but may I take you in my carriage?" cried Bow Tie eagerly. "I promise I will ride most carefully and get you there safely!". "And I will garland the carriage with flowers," said Cherries Jubilee, who was passing on her way to Dream Castle. "Please say yes, and we will make your carriage fit for a queen!" "Why, thank you, little ponies. I shall be delighted to ride in the carriage. I have never ridden in an open carriage before... nor have I been offered a pretty parasol to hold!" cried the queen, as she stepped daintily into the carriage. What a surprise the Elfin King got as he stood at the entrance of his royal palace just as the royal herald blew away the last piece of thistledown from the dandelion clock! "What a lovely carriage... and what a smart pony," he cried. "And how clever and polite of you to arrive on time!" "You must thank my dear friend Bow Tie for that," cried Queen Mab as she stepped out. "It was a really comfortable ride. In fact I think I shall make Bow Tie my royal carriage rider in future...if she would like the job! "Happy hooves, yes, please!" cried Bow Tie. She could scarecly wait to get back to Dream Castle and tell her friends all about her latest adventure!
STORY REQUEST PONY LAND IN DANGER FINAL PART
In a few minutes time a huge red cloud will pass over Pony Land. If it finds anything red, it will claim Pony Land!
Spike looked proudly at the surprise present he'd brought back from the Land of Dragons. Three bright red flags flew gaily from Dream Castle's turrets! "One is crooked," frowned Spike and climbed up to straighten it. "Fire eating dragons, I'm stuck!"
And as the little dragon clung to the flag pole, the huge red cloud got ready to start its journey.
In the ballroom of Dream Castle the little ponies were playing noisily. Only Majesty and Gypsy were watching the time.
"Only five minutes to go!" said Gypsy. But suddenly Majesty called for silence.
"Listen!" she said. "I hear Spike calling for help. Where is he? We must find him. He doesn't know about the red cloud."
"He's somewhere outside!" called Medley. Majesty twirled her magic horn. "The turrets!" she exclaimed. "He's on the turrets." And the little ponies hurried up to the battlements.
""Majesty, I'm stuck!" shouted Spike. "I was putting this beautiful red flag straight." Firefly flew to the dragon.
"There are three red flags!" said Gypsy in dismay. "There's no time to bring them down. But Spike's down safely!"
"Flutterbye, call for the blue butterflies," said Majesty. "I'll try to bring the bees!" said Honeycomb. The little ponies watched as Honeycomb, flew around the turrets, making a strange noise.
"The bees and butterflies are coming," called Gypsy. "But the huge red cloud is right behind them!"
Only just in time the bees and butterflies landed on the three red flags, turning them into yellow, blue and black.
The huge red cloud searched in vain for some red beings. It seemed like hours before it went away.
But at last it disappeared. Pony Land was safe! Everyone wore something red at the celebration party that night.
There is one friend every pony can rely on.
They say a friend in need is a friend indeed. So it's just as well Megan is never far away when Sundance needs a helping hand. All Sundance has to do is call for her, and Megan is magically carried to the heart of Ponyland. Sundance is not only the clumsiest of all the ponies, she's also always getting lost. So even if another pony sends for Megan's help, she often has to stop on the way to rescue Sundance first. Megan comes in her own pretty jumpsuit and wrap-around skirt. You'll find her together with Sundance in a special presentation pack for £13.50 or less throughout the year. Colours and content may vary from those shown above.
STORY REQUEST CARNIVAL DAY AT THE WATERFALL
"What a beautiful spring day," laughed Sprinkles, as she turned a back flip over the Rainbow. "Just the day for..."
"Sprinkles! You just turned a perfect back flip," quacked Duck Soup. "I know, that's why it's just the day for a Carnival."
Sprinkle laughed, "Help me pick some flowers, Duck Soup, then you can take them to all our friends.!
The little ponies were excited when Duck Soup arrived with the flowers. Sprinkle always used flowers as invitations. "Is it a party?" asked Sundance. "It's a Carnival," replied Duck Soup. "It starts at two o'clock." "We must decorate our floats," laughed Posey.
The Carnival started with a parade. "I've got some prizes for the best floats," said Duck Soup. He thought Posey's float was the prettiest and Snowflake's float the most unusual. Sundance won a prize too. Her float was the funniest.
While the little ponies played water games, Sprinkles turned back flips over the Rainbow. Only Sundance felt sad.
"I didn't mean my float to be funny," she sighed. "I'm so clumsy, I can't do anything right." Majesty heard the sigh.
Suddenly, Sundance saw the Rainbow turn upside down. "Pony feathers, the Rainbow can be clumsy too," she thought.
None of the other little ponies noticed the upside down Rainbow, they were too busy playing. Sundance began to follow it.
It was the baby ponies who first noticed the upside down Rainbow. "It's falledn from the sky," they cried in horror. "Heavy hooves, I must have knocked it down when I turned my back flips!" said Sprinkles. "Whatever can we do?" Duck Soup tried to lift the Rainbow.
Meanwhile, Sundance was still following the Rainbow. It seemed to waver and wriggle in front of her. Then...
There was a swishing noise and someone landed in front of the little ponu. "Megan!" laughed Sundance happily.
"Sprinkle came to fetch me," said Megan. "I'll take you to the others," laughed Sundance. Megan was the little ponies' special friend, they'd be so pleased to see her again. "I can do some things right," called Sundance, as they arrived at the Waterfall. Majesty smiled!
BOW TIE'S CORNER
Hello, Aren't my ribbons pretty? Sparkler told me that some of you collect ribbons, so I thought I'd give you some ideas for using them. It will soon be Easter and you could make some nice Easter cards with them on. First, arrange all your different ribbons neatly, on a tray, or in the lid of a large cardboard box.
You'll need some thin card, scraps of material, glue, scissors, coloured cotton wool balls and some crayons. Ask mum or dad to help you with the cutting out. Think of a design for your Easter card, then draw it lightly on your thin card. You could make your card a rabbit shape, or an egg shape and draw your picture inside the shape. Here are a few ideas for you.
If you've put rabbits in your picture, you could stick tiny ribbon bows inside the rabbit shapes, or cut out some material, the same size as your rabbit shapes, stick it on and put a ribbon around the rabbit's neck. Decorate a tree with rubbons, or use two bows to make flowers.

THE MARCH HARE'S TEA PARTY
Baby Glory and Baby Firefly were on their way to a party...
A few days before, the baby ponies had received an invitation. "It's from the March Hare," said Majesty.
"May we go?" they asked eagerly. "Of course!" said Majesty. "But you may get a few surprises at this party!"
On the day of the party the two baby ponies set off feeling very excited. "What a funny house!" said Baby Glory.
"Hurry up, it's nearly the end of March!" cried the March Hare. "Come on down the chimney!"
"You go first!" said Baby Glory. "It looks dark in there!" "I'm not afraid," said Baby Firefly.
"Happy hooves, what fun!" cried Baby Firefly. "Climb in, Baby Glory! It's a helter-skelter!"
"I spy with my little eye something beginning with C." "Chair...calendar...cushion!" cried the baby ponies.
"Jelly!" shouted the March Hare. "But that doesn't begin with C!" cried the baby ponies. "I know!" said the hare.
"I'll hide and you can find me," cried March Hare. But he sat on the table in full view!
"You should be under the table!" cried Baby Glory. "Not me... have a cake!" laughed the March Hare.
But when the baby ponies tried to eat the cakes..."Pony feathers! They're made of soap!" they cried.
"Have a drink to wash the taste away," said the March Hare. But the jugs of water were too heavy to lift!
"Why are you behaving so strangely?" asked the baby ponies. "'Cos it's March...I play mad pranks!" said the hare.
"We'd like to go home now," said Baby Firefly. "But we can't slide up a helter-skelter. How do we get out?"
"Pop into the kitchen cupboard," cried the hare. "Here's a present for you to take home!" "Thank you," said the ponies.
Later..."We're back at Dream Castle!" cried the ponies. "Did you enjoy the party?" asked Majesty.
Baby Firefly opened her parcel...and was hit on the nose by a hare-in-the-box! "That March Hare!" she cried.
Baby Glory's box contained a big chocolate hare. "I'm glad it will soon be April." said Baby Firefly.

A SHOCK FOR APPLEJACK
"There goes Applejack, off to the orchard again," cried Cotton Candy, as the little ponies played outsie in the meadows beyond Dream Castle. "You'd think she's get tired of eating apples!" "Why? You never get tired of eating flowers," replied Majesty with a twinkle in her eye. Cotton Candy blushed as the others laughed. Meanwhile, Applejack had reached the orchard. She gazed in delight at the all the trees. "The cherry blossom looks lovely... but the apples look ripe!" the little pony chuckled to herself. "That tree over there is very tall, but it's simply full of apples. Pony feathers, I'm in luck. The Sandman has left his magic star ladder leaning up against the tree. The magic stars allow anyone to climb up it without falling... even a little pony!" And so, very, very slowly and carefully, two hooves at a time, but sure that the star ladder was safe and she would not slip, Applejack climbed to the top of the tree. There she sat, hidden by the leafy branches, contentedly munching the sweet apples, completely unaware that down below the Sandman had returned and taken away his star ladder. He didn't see Applejack up the tree! At last, even Applejack was full, and she decided that it was time to climb down. "I couldn't eat another apple!" she sighed happily. "It's time to go home. Oh, heavy hooves, someone has taken the star ladder away! Now I can't get down... help, everyone, I'm stuck up a tree!" When they heard Applejack calling, Majesty and the little ponies ran to the orchard. "Majesty, please twirl your horn to get me down or bring the ladder back!" begged Applejack. "The Sandman needs the ladder to sweep the cobwebs from the night sky," replied Majesty. "And in order to work, my magic horn needs my shoes which are back in Dream Castle. You'll just have to jump down, Applejack!" "I'll make you a soft bed of cherry blossoms... see... it will be lovely to land on!" promised Cherries Jubilee. "I can't... I can't... I'm too frightened!" sobbed poor Applejack. "Pony feathers, does that mean Applejack will have to stay up in the apple tree forever?" cried Baby Cotton Candy to Baby Glory and Baby Bow Tie. "I think I've got an idea that will bring Applejack down," whispered Skyflier to Majesty. She whispered her plan to Majesty, who nodded and chuckled. Suddenly Baby Cotton Candy cried out: "Applejack, there's a monster behind you!" "Apple sauce, you're right!" cried Applejack, leaning back in horror as a strange flat face appeared among the leaves of the tree. "Keep away from me, you horrid creature! Oh, I must get away... I'll just have to jump!" And, closing her eyes tightly, Applejack did jump. She landed uite safely on a very soft carpet of cherry blossom... and she wasn't hurt a bit! Applejack struggled to her feet. "Oh, the monster's still there," she stammered, pointing to the face in the tree. "I'll soon get rid of it," laughed Gusty. She blew hard... and out sailed a kite into the sky. "It was only a kite," muttered Applejack crossly. "I suppose Skyflier and Bow Tie made it. What a horrid trick!" "But it got you down from the tree, didn't it?" said Skyflier. "That's why we did it." "Pony feathers, now I see," cried Applejack. "It was trick... but a clever trick which worked. Thank you, Skyflier!" "Yes, and don't ever try to climb trees again... not even with the magic star ladder... no ponies should try to climb trees! Hooves should stay on the ground," said Majesty sternly. "You must wait for the apples to fall down on the ground to you!" And you can be quite sure that after the shock which Applejack got, no one ever tried to climb an apple tree again... ever!
THE MAGIC FEATHER
One day Powder and Spike were looking out from the turrets. "Majesty, open the gates quickly," they cried in horror.
The little ponies were being chased by the Stone-Hearted Sorcerer! "You know what will happen if he catches you!" called Powder. "You'll all be turned to stone!" cried Spike. "Run as fast as you can!"
"Close the gates now, everyone's inside!" said Majesty. "Oh no, look, Tickle is still running" As they watched...
The Sorcerer put out his finger and touched Tickle...and the little pony was turned to stone.
As the Sorcerer fled with a mocking laugh, Majesty and the little ponies crowded around Tickler, trying to breathe warmth into her. "Majesty, how can we bring Tickle back to her old self again?" cried Lemon Drop.
"There is only one way," replied Majesty. "Someone must bring back a feather from the Bird of Truth!"
"How will that help?" asked Spike. "If Tickle is stroked with a feather from this bird, the magic will end!"
"I will find the truth bird and bring back a feather!" cried Lemon Drop. "I will go with you!" said Spike.
"No, Lemon Drop must go alone if she is to succeed!" said Majesty. "The Bird of Truth lives...in the sorcerer's castle!"
"I will still go," cried Lemon Drop bravely. "Very well," said Majesty. She produced a bag on a cord.
Each of the little ponies dropped a gift into the bag which they hoped would help Lemon Drop in her task.
"Good luick! Take care! We will be watching you in my magic crystal ball!" Majesty told Lemon Drop.
"I am allowed to lead you through the Frightening Forest. Then you must continue alone," said Moondancer.
But at the sound of roaring water, Moondancer said farewell. Lemon Drop was all alone...and about to face her first task!
"Heavy hooves, there's no bridge! Even I can't jump across that river!" cried Lemon Drop. "What can I do now?"
Will Lemon Drop manage to cross the Roaring River, or will she have to return to Pony Land without the magic feather? Find out in the next issue of My Little Pony.
SPARKLER'S SPECIAL STONE
One day Sunbeam was walking through Whispering Wood when she heard someone calling to her.
It was a bird, perched on a large stone in the middle of the stream. It looked familiar...but its feathers were white.
"Sunbeam, don't you know me? It's Sky the kingfisher, but the wicked Colour Witch has stolen all my lovely colours!"
"How terrible!" gasped Sunbeam. "We must ask Majesty to use her magic powers to get your colour back!"
Majesty listened, but she shook her head. "The witch has already used your colour," she said. "I can't get it back!"
A tear rolled down Sky's beak. "We must do something. He can't stay like this forever!" cried Sunbeam.
"Let's go down and see Rainbow!" said Majesty. "I'm sure that she will give some of her colours to Sky."
"Where's Rainbow?" cried Majesty. "She's off playing hide and seek with the wind." said Sprinkles.
"Heavy hooves, what a nuisance!" cried Sunbeam. "Away just when she's needed! Hey, Sparkler, you look pleased!"
"Look what I've found...a new stone for my collection!" cried Sparkler happily. "See how it shines in the sun!"
"Sparkler, you've found the magic rainbow stone...it's just what Sky needs. Please lend it to me!"
"See how it glitters with rainbow colours when I hold it to the sun!" cried Majesty. "Sky's colours are here!"
"Fly near the Waterfall, Sky!" cried Majesty, as she held the stone high in the air. Then she sang: "Magic stone of rainbow hue, Turn Sky's feathers to their true blue!"
"It's working, your colours are coming back! Sky you're like a flying jewel!" cried Sunbeam.
Majesty gave Sparkler her own special box to keep the stone in and only she and Sky knew it's secret hiding place.
SPIKE'S SPOT
You know how much I like jumping, running and shouting, don't you? Well, my dragon friends told me about a game they like to play. It's called Don't Touch The Hoo-Doo. You have to make a Hoo-Doo board, see diagram, and place it on the ground. Each player has three pebbles, they must all be similar in shape and size. Standing behind the line, try and score as many as possible by throwing your pebbles into the squares. A pebble landing on a line does not count, unless your next throw moves it into a square. The core is the total of points shown by the squares on which your pebbles have landed. BUT if you land on the left hand Hoo-Doo, you take away five points unless you jump up and dwn and shout Hoo-Doo five times. If you shout more or less than five you still lose your points. If your pebble lands on the right-hand Hoo-Doo you must take away two points, unless you jump up and down and shout Hoo-Doo twice. I try to land on Hoo-Doos every time, do that I can jump and shout!

MEGAN AND THE MAGIC PUDDLE
"I love splashing through puddles," shouted Spike. "Watch me, Megan, I'm going to splash my way to the Lullabye Nursery. The baby ponies like playing in the puddles too!" "While Spike's away, I'll show you something special," said Megan to the little ponies. "Look!"
Megan pointed to a large puddle. "Do you know that puddle is magic?" "Does it make lollipops?" asked Tootsie.
"No, but if you stand in it and close your eyes, it changes colour," laughed Megan. "Try it, Tootsie."
"Can I open my eyes yet?" said Tootsie. "No, the magic hasn't finished working," said Megan. "Count to twenty, Tootsie, then it'll have worked." And as Tootsie counted, Megan and the little ponies ran quietly away to hide!
"Twenty!" shouted Tootsie and opened her eyes. "Fony peathers, they've played a trick on me, they'e disappeared."
"It's the first day of April and I've made you into an April Funny," laughed Megan, hurrying back to Tootsie and hugging her.
"She isn't really an April Funny," giggled Sundance. "Look at the lollipops in the puddle, they're all different colours." Megan giggled too. "Now I'm an April Funny. Look here's Spike with the baby ponies." "Can I play a trick on them?" begged Tootsie.
"Hello, Megan, we're getting wet," called Baby Gusty. "Tiddly-Winks is staying in the nursery to make you a special tea."
"That's a magic puddle you're splashing through," said Tootsie. "Great dragons, what does it do?" shouted Spike.
Soon, Spike and the baby ponies were standing in the puddle counting to twenty. "Jump up and down to help the magic," said Tootsie, then giggling quietly she hurried after the others. Spike roared with laughter when he found out that he'd been tricked!
"I'm not an April Funny, I can see lots of colours," said Baby Shady, peering through her sunglasses.
"They're your own pretty colours," said Tootsie. "Does anyone want a pollilop?" Spike ran off with his lollipop.
While Megan and the ponies played, Spike went to see Sweetie. She laughed as her told her about April Funnies.
"I've got a delightful dragon idea!" shouted Spike suddenly. "It is a good idea," said Sweetie. "Come on..."
Later, when everyone was having tea outside Lullabye Nursery, Sweetie and Spike handed their bags of sweets around. "They pop and fizz and make my nose tickle!" cried Megan. "They're special sweets!" shouted Spike. "Great dragons, they're called April Funnies."

Melain Jennifer Mead from Wetherby, Yorkshire, designed this little pony called Flower Feast. Melain will be nine on June 16th. She is one of our honorary members and Tootsie will be especially pleased to hear about Melain's hobby - collecting lollipops. Melain says she's collected seventy-six different ones!
I expect Tootsie will be having a lot of lollipops soon. It's her birthday this month. Tootsie is a great favourite in Pony Land, everyone loves to hear her muddling her words up and making 'pollilop latches' grow. Tootsie's lucky flower is a clover - it was a four leaf clover that granted her first wish for her own lollipop patch.

PARASOL AND THE UGLY PRINCESS
One morning Parasol was strolling along Primrose Path when she saw someone kneeling beside the Silver Stream gazing into the water. It was little Princess Primrose. As Parasol crept up softly behind her, the princess turned around and Parasol gave a tiny gasp of dismay. "Yes...you're quite right! I am ugly!" cried Princess Primrose sadly. "Just look at my big hooked nose...I have a green eye and blue eye...my teeth are crooked...my..." "Pony feathers, please stop!" begged Parasol, as the princess began to cry. "Everyone knows you have a kind heart and a sweet temper!" "Yes, but I am too ashamed to go outside the palace gates except when there is no-oe else about," sighed the princess. "Since the Storm Wizard's invitation to my christening got lost and he sent along his gift of ugliness, I look worse and worse every day. Oh, if only I could be pretty for just an hour!" "Happy hooves, so you shall!" cried Parasol. "Here, take my Parasol of Beauty. If you hold it over your head, its beauty will be reflected in your face!" "Oh Parasol, how beautiful it is!" cried Princess Primrose, holding the parasol above her head. "Look, it shimmers with all the colours of the rainbow. It's truly beautiful!" "And so are you," cried a little elf who was passing. "Look, everyone, see how pretty our princess has become!" All the fairy folk rushed out of their toadstool houses to greet the princess and marvel at her new beauty! How happy Princess Primrose was! The princess and Parasol visited the fairy market for the first time and Parasol helped the princess choose a length of silken cobwebs for a new dress and a pair of shoes of the finest soft leather. Princess Primrose bought Parasol a pair of new shiny pony shoes and together they ate a sweet nut cake from a stall owned by an old goblin with a long beard. When they offered to pay, the goblin chuckled and said, "Your beauty is payment enough, Princess, and I need no other payment from such a fine handsome little pony." Princess Primrose and Parasol laughed happily, delighted at such praise. "I suppose I shall have to hand the Parasol of Beauty back to you soon," Princess Primrose said sadly a little later, as she and Parasol walked back along the Primrose Path beside the Silver Stream. "Heavy hooves, yes, I'm afraid so," confessed Parasol. "When Majesty gave me the magic to make it, she said it could only be used for one hour!" "Then of course you must take it," cried the little princess bravely. "At least I had one hour of beauty. Oh, look, Parasol, a little bird has fallen into the Silver Stream. We must do something quickly or it will drown. I'll turn the parasol upside down. It will act as a raft. Climb into the parasol, little bird, and it will float you safely back to shore!" Parasol and the princess watched anxiously as the little bird struggled into the upturned parasol. Then Parasol blew softly and the parasol boat began to turn back towards the bank of the stream. "Well done, Parasol," cried the princess, as she helped the little bird back to its nest. She bent over the stream to pick up the parasol and as she did so the parasol broke up into a thousand pieces and the waters shimmered and glimmered. When the water cleared once more Parasol gave a cry of pleasure and delight. "Princess, look at your reflection," she cried. "You're as beautiful as ever...even without the Parasol of Beauty!" "So I am!" cried Princess Primrose. "But why...how did this happen?" Suddenly Majesty appeared, smiling at the princess and the little pony. "Because you were willing to give up your beauty when you were asked, and you used the parasol to help another, the spell of the Storm Wizard has ended," Majesty said. "Now your true beauty shows on your face as well as in your kind heart!" "Thank you, Majesty," cried Princess Primrose. "And thank you, Parasol. You will always be my best friend, for you liked and helped me when I was ugly. Now that I am beautiful we will go everywhere together...a pretty princess...and her friend, te pretty little pony, Parasol!" And they did!
THE MAGIC FEATHER PART TWO
The stone-hearted Sorcerer has turned Tickle to stone! Lemon Drop needs the Magic Feather to end the enchantment.
Back at Dream Castle, Majesty and the others gaze in the magic crystal ball to discover what is happening to Lemon Drop. "Majesty, you must help her to cross the river!" begged Spike. "Please do something!" the ponies cried.
Majesty twirled her horn. Then she sang, "Lemon Drop, don't be afrais! My gift in the bag will come to your aid!"
Her words came clearly to Lemon Drop. She searched in the bag and pulled out...a piece of the Rainbow! "Just what I need!"
She threw the Rainbow towards the river. It formed a bridge and Lemon Drop crossed over safely.
"Pony feathers, I'm glad Majesty was able to help," cried Lemon Drop as she sat down on a log. "My, I feel hungry!"
In the bag Lemon Drop found Posey's maize cake. She shared the crumbs with a tiny ant and a little bird.
"We will repay you for your kindness," cried the ant and the birds as Lemon Drop set off to climb the hill to the castle.
"Pony feathers, at least I can jump over the moat!" cried Lemon Drop. She landed right in front of the door.
"Spells and stones, a little pony come to visit me," cried the sorcerer. "Enter...but you may not perhaps leave!"
"What do you want?" asked the sorcerer. "I want you to give me a feather from the Bird of Truth!" cried Lemon Drop.
"You shall have one," said the sorcerer, "if you can perform the task I set you. Come with me!"
The sorcerer led Lemon Drop up the stairs. At the door of a room in the highest tower he stopped.
As the door opened, the sorcerer pushed Lemon Drop inside and locked it. "You've tricked me!" cried Lemon Drop.
"Not I!" mocked the sorcerer. "Seperate the wheat from the chaff by dawn tomorrow and the feather shall be yours!"
Lemon Drop stared at the mound of grain in dismay. How could she seperate that heap by dawn next day?
STORY REQUEST MOONSTONE AND THE MYSTERIOUS MOSS
Moonstone lay quietly on her bed of moss in the forest. "I must be dreaming," she thought. "I feel as if..."
"Hello, Moonstone," called the Man in the Moon. "How kind of you to pass by. Won't you come in for a while?"
"Thank you," giggled Moonstone, standing up. "I'd love to come in!" She put one hoof out and...hit a tree trunk!
"What a silly dream," said Moonstone. "I thought my bed was in the sky. Oh! This isn't my tree and my bed is moving!"
Moonstone had no idea that some strange fairies were trying to take her to their land, without her knowing!
"I'm not dreaming," said Moonstone. "I can stamp my feet." Every time she stamped, she got nearer to the ground below.
As her bed of moss thumped down onto the ground, Moonstone stared in horror at the dozens of tiny figures surrounding her.
"Who are you? Was it you making my bed fly?" the little pony asked nervously. "We are the moss fairies and..." But a loud cruel voice interrupted. "I told you that you'd fail. The moss goblines will overpower your land."
"Oh why did the man in the moon call out?" moaned one of the fairies. "We could have been there by now."
"Been where?" asked Moonstone. "Do tell me what you're talking about. Have you got a problem? Can I help you?"
"We wanted to use your beautiful tail as a powder puff," sighed one of the moss fairies. "The fairy queen is looking for some new helpers. Whoever takes her the prettiest powder puff, by midnight tonight, gets the job. The goblins have made a lovely one..."
"The goblins are bad," said another fairy. "If they get the job they'll imprison the queen and take our land from us.!
Moonstone rubbed her unicorn in the moss, in a twinkling there was a pretty rainbow powder puff lying on the ground.
"Take it to your fairy queen," said Moonstone. "Hurry, it is almost midnight," She watched the fairies fly away.
The next night, the moss fairies passed through Pony Land. Moonstone was proud when she saw the rainbow powder puff!

LITTLE PONY PICNIC
(Considering there's no picnic in this story, I think they probably got the titles mixed up with the next issue!)
Posey hurried past her friends, who were having Keep Fit lesson, and sighed. "I do wish I could join them, but I must solve my problem first."
Posey's problem was her tulips. She'd plant them in semi-circles, in her garden under the magic rainbow. The trouble was, the tulips wouldn't stop growing. The little pony stred in dismay when she reached her garden. The tulips were so tall...
"They've grown again," said Posey, "I can hardly see the flower part. They're almost touching the rainbow."
Just then, Cotton Candy arrived. "Have you made them grow tall to stop me eating them?" she asked.
Suddenly, Posey lost her balance. She slithered down the rocks, splashing her hooves in the little pond.
"Sorry, Cotton Candy, I didnt mean to splash you. I don't know why my tulips are so tall. It is a problem."
"Ive brought you some more rocks for your rock garden," said Cotton Candy, unstrapping herself. "Look, Cotton Candy," whispered Posey. "Look at the flower stems," "There's little coloured frogs running down them," said Cotton Candy.
"Please don't be cross," said two tiny voices. "Posey, there are two frogs on your legs," giggled Cotton Candy.
The two frogs jumped onto Cotton Candy's head. "Don't be cross, we made your tulips grow," they said to Posey.
The little coloured frogs jumped off the flower stems and sat on the rocks that had tumbled out of the pony stroller. "We put a spell on the flowers so we could reach the rainbow. Then we jumped through the rainbow and made ourselves pretty."
"Don't cut the tulips," said the two green frogs. "It's our turn next, to run up them and jump through the rainbow."
"Why do you want to be different colours?" asked Posey. "So we can come to your Keep Fit lessons," said the coloured frogs.
"The little ponies wear pretty colours, so we thought you'd let us join in if we wore colours too."
"We'll take the spell off your tulips now," said the frogs. "We've finished jumping through the rainbow."
Posey laughed happily. "The tulips look lovely," she said. "And so do you. Come on, let's go and Keep Fit." The frogs were surprised when they saw Spike, Brandy and Twinkles. "Don't you have to wear colours?" they asked. "No," laughed Posey.

Some ponies are always on the move.
To stay in peak condition, ponies need to live a very busy life. Honeycomb likes a quick jog around the paddock in her Fun Run outift. Gypsy enjoys a game of tennis in her Tennis Fun kit. Hopscotch, naturally, prefers to skate around the ice rink in her Ice Dance togs. And, after a sackful of oats for lunch, Snowflake works off a few excess pounds in her Flashprance leotard. Most evenings, at least one of the ponies will be throwing a Birthday Girl party. After that, there's only one thing for it. Sweet Dreams. Fun Run, Tennis Fun, Ice Dance and Flashprance outfits (illustrated), and Birthday Girl and Sweet Dreams outfits (not illustrated) are all now available at £4.20 or less each. The ponies shown are sold seperately at £4.50 or less each. Colours and content may vary from those shown.
PEACHY'S DISCO PARTY
One day as Peachy was watering Lemon Drop's new flower jump at the Show Stable, Majesty came to see her. "I've come to ask you to help me," Majesty said. "You know how Ive promised all the little ponies a disco dance party tonight at Dream Castle?" Peachy nodded eagerly. "I've just been trying on my flash prance costume," she replied. "Everyone's been talking about the dance for weeks... especially the baby ponies." "Yes, I've promised that they can stay up a little longer than usual as a treat," said Majesty. "But I'm afraid that now there won't be a party... unless you can help! You see, Sunbeam and Surprise were organising everything and now they've been asked by the Sunshine Sprites to give a party for the Sunflower Princess's birthday. It is a great honour for them, so of course I've agreed that they should go!" "Pony feathers, yes!" agreed Peachy at once. "But everyone will be disappointed!" "Yes, that is why I want you to organise the party instead," smiled Majesty. "Hooves and manes... me?" gasped Peachy. "Pony feathers, I don't think..." "Yes, you can do it, the others will help," interrupted Lemon Drop. "It'll be fun, Peachy. Come on, I'll help you to make a list of what you need to do!" And, before Peachy knew it, she was in charge of the disco party! After the first surprise, Peachy found that she was really enjoying herself. Majesty gave her a little magic to use exactly as she wished. So she turned Applejack's apples into little red and green lanterns which she hung around the room. Tiddly Winks' largest coloured counters became flashing disco lights and Sparkler's shiniest pebbles became a lovely chandelier that hung from the ceiling, reflecting all the colours of the rainbow. Lickety-Split promised lots of ice-cream and Surprise had left lots of balloons before she left for Sunshine Land, while Medley had promised to play whatever tunes Peachy asked. Although the others had helped, it was Peachy who had worked the hardest. She really was tired at the end of the day and could scarcely keep her eyes open as she left the Grooming Parlour to put on her flash prance outfit. "Pony feathers, I do look pretty," she murmured to herself as she looked in the mirror. "But I do feel tired! I'll just have a little nap before the party starts!" But do you know, poor Peachy was so tired that she slept right through the music and the dancing... and everyone was enjoying themselves so much that none of the little ponies realised that Peachy wasn't there! No one, that is, except Majesty. She stole quietly away and found Peachy curled up fast asleep. She stayed there quietly until the last sounds died away, and then Peachy stretched and awoke. Peachy stared at Majesty at surprise. "Is it time for the party?" she asked. "I'm afraid you've slept right through the disco," replied Majesty. "Everyone had a lovely time, tanks to your hard work!" "Yes, but I missed the party," cried Peachy. "Then you shall have one of your own," cried Majesty. "A very different party." She sang: "Music start, hear the beat, Peachy, get on your feet. Mops, and bucket, cover too, Cups and pillow, dance with you!" And, as Peachy danced, the mop and bucket, the bed cover and the pillow and Lemon Drop's silver cups all danced with Peachy. "Happy hooves, this is fun!" cried Peachy as she twirled and bowed with the pillow. "I'm glad I fell asleep! I've never danced with a mop before... won't the others be surprised when I tell them?" And they were!
A LUCKY CATCH
One day Baby Glory, Baby Blossom and Baby Firefly went down to the shore to paddle at the edge of the sea.
But after a while they got bored. "What shall we do now?" cried Baby Glory. "Why not try fishing?" asked Lobbie Lobster.
"We don't catch fish... they are our friends!" cried Baby Glory. "I promise you won't catch fish!" cried Lobbie with a grin.
"Pony feathers, I suppose there are other things in the sea," said Baby Firefly as she took her line.
"Cast the lines as far out as you can," advised Lobbie. "Do you think we shall catch something?" said Baby Glory.
Far below the waves the baby sea ponies laughed as they listened to their friends. "I'm going to put a shell shaped like a star on Baby Glory's line," cried Sea Star. "Baby Firefly shall have a comb for her mane!"
"I can feel something on my line! Pony feathers, look at this beautiful shell!" cried Baby Glory.
"I've fished up a lovely comb!" cried Baby Firefly. "Look, Majesty, aren't we lucky? Why don't you fish too?"
(The next two pics and captions appear to be switched, but this is how it is in the comic!)
"We haven't seen him at all," cried Baby Blossom. "And I haven't caught anything at all yet!"
"I can't fish until I find Spike," said Majesty. "He came down ages ago to see his friend Drago the sea dragon!"
"I hope that Spike hasn't been silly enough to try and find Drago's cave," said Majesty. "He can't swim!"
"Pony feathers, look, everyone, my line's moving! I've caught something at last!" cried Baby Blossom in delight!
"Heavy hooves, it's trying to pull away!" cried Baby Blossom. "Help me, everyone, to reel it in! It may be treasure!"
"I can see a chest... it's very old," cried Baby Glory. "The lid's open and..."
"Spike!" cried Majesty. "How did you get there?" "I fell asleep waiting for Drago. He sprinkled me with floating sust and put me in the chest as a joke. I've been waiting for ages for someone to fish me out!" cried Spike.
THE MAGIC FEATHER FINAL PART
Lemon Drop has been set a difficult task to gain the magic feather to set Tickle free.
"Go to sleep, Lemon Drop, and don't worry," cried the ant. "My family and I will repay your kindess be seperating the grain. We are many and can complete the task easily." "Pony feathers, that's wonderful!" gasped Lemon Drop.
Next morning, when Lemon Drop awoke, there were the two piles... one of wheat and one of chaff!
"I have done what you asked," said Lemon Drop to the sorceror. "Now give me the magic feather!"
The sorceror took Lemon Drop to a room full of birds. "Find the Bird of Truth!" he cried with a laugh.
(Yet another pic and caption appear to have been switched!)
"The white one is the Bird of Truth!" said the little bird. "I can see a feather in its cage!"
Lemon Drop looked at the birds as the sorceror left the room. "Which one is the Bird of Truth?" she cried.
Lemon Drop put the feather in her bag, and ran to the window. "I must get back to Pony Land!" she cried.
Lemon Drop leaped down into the moat. Cotton Candy's Floating Flower held her up as she swam to the bank.
Lemon Drop ran down the hill and onto the birdge... but the sorceror was not far behind. All seemed lost!
But Majesty had seen all in her magic crystal. "Lemon Drop, do not fear," she sang. "Rainbow bridge, disappear!"
It did... and so did the sorceror! Lemon Drop gave a cry of delight and ran on through the forest.
She arrived at Dream Castle and waved the feather in the air. "I've got it!" she called happily.
Lemon Drop stroked Tickle gently. "Pony feathers, I am cold! It seems as if I might be made of stone!" cried Tickle.
"Why are you all smiling?" asked Tickle. "It's a long story...we'll tell you inside...it's warmer!" chuckled Majesty.
POSEY'S CORNER
Hello, I was glad when I solved my problem and I could go and keep fit with my friends. I hope Janetta Ogden of Bramhall, Cheshire, and Belinda Antrobus of Peterborough, Cambs, enjoyed the story because it was especially for them. Weren't the frogs funny? Spike, Twinkles and Brandy had a lot of races with them, and then the frogs taught them two racing games. Perhaps you would like to try them. Ask Mum or Dad to help you make them.
FLYING FROGS You need 2 or 3 large handkerchiefs and 4 lengths of string about 30 cms long for each handkerchief, a wooden clothes peg for each handkerchief and some small coloured pictures of frogs to stick onto the pegs. Knot the lengths of string onto the four corners of the handkerchiefs, then tie the four loose ends onto the pegs with frogs on, Figs, A & B. You now have a parachute. Roll it up and throw it high into the air. It will open and the frogs will land safely. See which frog wins!
JUMPING FROGS Draw two frogs on two square bits of cardboard. Colour one orange and one purple. Ask Mum or Dad to punch holes at the top of the cardboard. Cut two bits of string about 1 metre long. Tie the ends to the legs of a stool or a chair about 12 cms from the ground. Tape string into place. Thread on the frogs, tilt the squares, then jerk the string. With each jerk, the frogs will jump. Loosen the string and the frogs will land; repeat this until one frog reaches the legs of the stool. He is the winner. But remember, the frog must touch the floor with each jump.

SPARKLER'S SECRET
The little ponies often went for a picnic by the Silver Stream...
"I wish the food hamper would arrive!" cried Bow Tie. "I'm hungry!" "You've only just had lunch!" said Hopscotch.
"Have an apple!" said Applejack with a grin. "I always carry one in case of an emergency!"
"Here come the others now!" cried Hopscotch. "Pony feathers, what a large hamper! Was it very heavy?" "Happy hooves, no, it was as light as a feather!" cried Baby Glory.
"Heavy hooves, no wonder it was so light to carry! It's empty!" gasped Baby Cotton Candy.
"Don't worry, I've brought another one. I saw what had happened!" said Majesty. "There's plenty to eat!"
"Let's play games first," begged the baby ponies. So Gypsy played as they all danced 'In and Out and Through the Bluebells'... all except Applejack who danced through the apple trees instead!
Then they played hide and seek. Baby Glory found Baby Cotton Candy fast asleep among the flowers!
"Let's paddle in the Silver Stream," cried Bow Tie. "Sparkler hasn't come yet. Where can she be?"
"Here she is!" cried Spike. "Why are you late?" But Sparkler just gave Majesty a secret smile.
"She was probably looking for something for her collection," said Baby Glory.
Now it was time for tea. How delicious everything was! "I love picnics!" cried Baby Glory.
The little ponies played and talked for a long time. "Pony feathers, it's time for home!" said Majesty.
"Heavy hooves, how can we get home?" cried the babies. "It's different in the dark!"
"You must all follow Sparkler. She will show you the way home!" said Majesty. And she did!
"I marked out our way with pebbles," explained Sparkler. "Look, the moonlight shows them clearly. Come on, little ponies, we'll soon be home." "So that's why you were late!" cried the ponies.
SEA SHIMMER AND THE SEA DRAGON
"I'm going to look for my friend Miranda in the Coral Caves," called Sea Shimmer, as she passed by Splasher who was playing with her turtle float near the rocky shore. "I don't think you should do that today," cried Splasher. "You really ought to come for your weekly baby backstroke lesson. You're still rather slow...and you never know when you may need to swim swiftly out of danger." "That's true," added Sea Star, looking up from the sandcastle she was building. "Besides, Ossie Octopus had told me strange tales about a sea dragon lurking near the caves!" "A sea dragon?" repeated Tiny Bubbles. "Sand and shore, Sea Shimmer, then don't go into the caves... you might meet the dragon!" "There's only one dragon in Pony Land...and that's Spike...and he's harmless enough!" laughed Sea Shimmer, and she swam on past her sea pony friends. "I think Sea Shimmer is being rather silly," said Surf Rider. "I'll take a ride on a big wave and see if I can see one of the flying ponies. Perhaps we can get a message to Majesty to tell her about the sea dragon. She will know what to do!" "That's a splendid idea!" cried Tiny Bubbles. "Look, here comes a big wave now... and I can see Firefly coming towards us. Quickly, now, catch the wave's tail, it will carry you up high and Firefly will hear you calling to her." So Surf Rider caught the end of the big wave and managed to attract Firefly's attention. "I'll go and tell Majesty at once," she cried. "She will want to know about this sea dragon!" Firefly sped off at double speed, turning double and treble loops in her hurry to reach Dream Castle with her news. Meanwhile, Sea Shimmer was swimming about calling for Miranda. "Miranda is safe in King Neptune's castle... everyone is staying safely inside since they heard about the sea dragon!" cried the leader of a shoal of fishes. "Go back to the surface, Sea Shimmer!" "I'm not afraid of an old sea dragon! I'm going right down into the depths of the old wreck!" cried Sea Shimmer boldly. "You're being very silly... and I'm sure you'll be sorry!" cried the large fish, as they swam on quickly. Sea Shimmer just tossed her head and swam on into the old wreck. But suddenly she felt afraid. There was no one else about and everything seemed silent and still. To make herself feel better, Sea Shimmer started to sing: "I'm a brave Baby Sea Pony, Sea Shimmer is my name, And any old sea dragon, I can quickly tame!" "Can you indeed!" chuckled a voice. "Fire, flames, seaweed and shells. Go ahead, tame me!" Sea Shimmer turned round in fright and saw... a long scaly sea dragon, covered in seaweed! "Help, help, someone save me from the terrible dragon!" she cried. Sea Shimmer turned and swam... for her life! "I wish I had gone for the swimming lessons... I am slow!" she cried. "Why didn't I listen to the others. Oh, the dragon's gaining on me. I'm lost!" "I'm not surprised... you're a very silly little sea pony going down into that wreck," cried the sea dragon suddenly overtaking Sea Shimmer and forcing her to stop. "Are you going to eat me?" cried Sea Shimmer in fright. "Eat you? Of course not! I'm just making sure you get safely back to shore and then I'm going to visit my friend, Spike. Sea and shells, here he is to greet me...and Majesty too!" "Welcome to Pony Land, Drago," cried Majesty. "I see you've met Sea Shimmer!" she added with a twinkle in her eye. "Yes, indeed, she tames sea dragons, I believe!" laughed Drago. Sea Shimmer blushed... it would be a long, long time before she ventured to the old wreck again! But at least her sea dragon had been friendly...and she had managed to swim back safely to shore! But she'd make sure she attended the next swimming lesson!

THE STRANGE SHELL
The baby sea ponies so enjoyed playing together that they often forgot the time and were late home for tea.
Splasher was so busy practising her backstroke that she did not hear King Neptune calling to her.
Sea Star was so intent on decorating her castle with shells that she completely forgot the time!
Surf Rider was having too much fun riding behind the dolphin's tail to even think of going home...
... while Sea Shimmer was enjoying a lovely chat with her friend Merry the Mermaid... and time stood still!
King Neptune decided that something must be done. So he asked all the baby sea ponies to come to him.
"You really must come home when you are called," he said sternly. "But we never hear you call," said Sea Star.
"We are always too far away," cried Splasher. "Not any more!" replied the sea king. He showed them a shell.
"The sound of this magic shell will reach you wherever you are, and you must come home," he said.
"We'll come as soon as we hear it," said Tiny Bubbles, as they swam out to their favourite deep cave.
"We'll never hear it here," she said. But they did...and arrived home just in time for tea!
STORY REQUEST MASQUERADE AND THE MAGIC MOONBEAM
Masquerade flew happily along the milky way. She was on her way to perform a play for the Man in the Moon.
"Can we come and watch the play, Masquerade?" asked the stars and the clouds, swirling around her.
"Of course you can," laughed the little pony. "Hurry though, while the starlights are on green!"
"Masquerade, here you are at last," called the Man in the Moon, coming out of his Moonhouse. "Everything's ready for you. Do come inside." "Starry skies! You look different tonight," said Masquerade. "I've dressed up for you," replied her friend.
The audience sat down and soon Masquerade appeared, her tail and mane braided into hundreds of tiny plaits.
Her eyes twinkled through the slits in her mask as she bowed to the Man in the Moon.
Then Masquerade lifted her head and sang. Skydancer and Medley came into the Moonhouse. Skydancer jumped on a table and began to dance, Medley waved her tail and the sound of a harp tinkled round the room.
Soon, the clouds and the stars were dancing too. "Be my partner?" a cloud asked the Man in the Moon.
But he shook his head. "How strange," thought Masquerade. "He loves to dance, he must be feeling tired tonight."
The play was over. Masquerade had appeared as ten different characters and everyone had enjoyed themselves. "Will you take this present to Majesty?" said the Man in the Moon, giving Masquerade a box. "Put it beside her, so she finds it when she wakes."
So, later, just as dawn was breaking, Masquerade crept into Dream Castle and quietly put the box next to Majesty.
Spike woke with a jump, just as Masquerade crept past him. "The Man in the Moon sent a present," said Masquerade.
"Shh!" whispered Spike. "Don't wake Majesty, we had a late night. The Man in the Moon came to supper."
"But Spike, I went to visit him last night, he couldn't have been here. Oh no! We must get that present. Quick..."
Spike and Masquerade ran into Majesty's room. "She's gone!" gasped Spike. "And look, she's taken her present with her."
"I think the present has taken Majesty," said Masquerade. "The Man in the Moon I visited, was not the real one."
"Fire eating dragons! Of course it wasn't. He couldn't have been in two places at once, and the real one was here. But who did you see?" "Here come Medley and Skydancer, they were with me. Let's see what they tink." Masquerade and Spike ran out to the courtyard.
"We found this note from Wizard Wantall" gasped Medley. "It was him we saw and that present was a magic moonbeam..."
"It's taking Majesty to the Wizard, he'll only let the moonbeam bring her back if we give him our Waterfall. What can we do?
Will the little ponies have to give Wizard Wantall their Waterfall? The story continues in your next issue of My Little Pony.
MASQUERADE'S CORNER
Hello, I do wish you could have seen the play we gave in the Moonhouse. I pretended to be ten different characters, I had to keep wearing something different, so here are some of the things I made. Tails and manes! I almost forgot to tell you something. The Story Request was especially for: Suzy Paget and Rebecca Broad of Great Barr, Birmingham. Majesty sends you her love, Suzy and Rebecca, and hopes you enjoyed the story.
PAPER BEADS Trace the two triangle patterns (A and B) and cut out twenty pieces like them from coloured paper. Ask your mum or dad if they've any small pieces of wallpaper you can use, or use coloured paper bags or wrapping paper. Make one bead at a time by spreading paste on the back of your paper triangle, (C) then, starting from the wide end, roll the triangle around a cocktail stick or toothpick, (D) slip the stick out of the bead, (E); and put the ead in a safe place to dry. Do the same thing with all your triangle shapes then when all your beads are dry, thread them onto two strings - one for a necklace and one for a bracelet. When cutting things out ask your mum or dad to help you.
PAPER FEATHER HATS
Choose a paper bag that will just fit on your head like a hat. Cut off the bottom part of the bag then flatten the bag and fold it into pleats. Draw a feather pattern ion the folded bag (see diagram 1) then cut around the outline, ask mum or dad to help with the cutting out. Carefully open out your hat, then decorate it (diagram 2).

WIN A LITTLE PONY
Happy hooves! Turn to page five and see how you can win one of these little ponies.
THE LITTLE PONY RACE
"Pony feathers, just look at Firefly turning that treble treble loop! She is clever!" sighed Lickety-Split.
"I think I can fly faster than anyone in Pony Land," boasted Firefly. "Let's have a race!"
"No, you would be sure to win," cried Bow Tie. "We can only run! You can fly!"
"Will no one race me?" cried Firefly, looking around. Cherries Jubilee looked at Majesty. "I will!" she said.
"I didn't know Cherries Jubilee could run so fast!" said Bow Tie to Majesty. "She may not need to!" replied Majesty.
"Right, off you go," cried Majesty twirling her horn. "Along the path, down by the Silver Stream, through the Feather Forest and back here to Dream Castle!"
"You don't stand a chance," cried Firefly, flapping her wings. "I'll be in Feather Forest in a trice!"
Firefly was right. Soon she was flying over the feathery trees...but, pony feathers, she was hot!
"I'm sure I've time for a rest," she cried. "I'm far ahead of Cherries Jubilee." And down she flew!
When Cherries Jubilee reached the forest, there was Firefly fast asleep. Cherries Jubilee smiled and went on.
At last Firefly awoke. "I'll just walk a little," she said. "My wings are rather stiff, but I've plenty of time!"
Suddenly, Firefly realised that she was hungry. "Hurray, someone's hung branches of cherries on these trees!"
The ponies had been watching the race in Majesty's magic ball. "Cherries Jubilee is clever!" said Bow Tie.
"Time to fly again!" said Firefly. But it started to rain heavily. Firefly was blown off course!
She arrived back at Dream Castle just in time to see Cherries Jubilee accepting the silver cup from Majesty. "Did you have a nice sleep? I hope the cherries were tasty," she said. Firefly blushed!

THE QUILT OF MEMORIES
One day Majesty called all the little ponies to Dream Castle to see her. "I have got some happy... and sad news," she said. "Dame Dimity has just been to see me to tell me that she is leaving us and going to live in The Land of Heart's Desire." "Oh, heavy hooves, I shall miss her," cried Cotton Candy."She always let me have the best flowers in her garden to nibble." "She always made sure we had a soft cushion to land on when we were learning to fly," cried Baby Firefly. "She always found me the sweetest apple from her tree," agreed Applejack. "She always found time to listen to my latest tune even when she had lots to do," cried Gypsy. "Yes, I'm sure you all have really happy memories of your days with Dame Dimity," smiled Majesty. "So I've decided to give her a present from us all when she leaves... a quilt of memories!" "Whatever do you mean, Majesty?" asked Twilight, who was making one of her rare appearances in daylight. "I want each of you to bring me something which has a happy memory of Dame Dimity. Then I shall use my magic horn to turn each object into cloth. I shall sew the patches together with everlasting memory thread and Dame Dimity will have a quilt which will keep her cool in summer and warm in winter!" "Happy hooves, what a lovely idea!" cried all the little ponies together and away they went to find their own particular memory. Soon Majesty was busy stitching away and on the very day that Dame Dimity was about to leave, the quilt was ready. "Oh, you dear kind friends," she cried in delight as she held up the quilt. "How lovely... and you are quite right, Majesty! It will remind me of you all. This linen patch, shaped like a russet autumn leaf, is just like the ones Gusty swept from my path each year." "My midnight blue velvet patch should remind you of the night sky when I gave you a shooting star to visit your old friend the Man in the Moon," explained Twilight. "The shell patches are from Sea Shimmer and the other baby sea ponies to remind you of the fun we had last summer at the picnic onn the beach," cried Majesty. "And I caught a few musical notes from Gypsy and Medley and put them onto a silver skein... that one over there!" "It's very pretty," cried Dame Dimity. "And I can guess who provided the flower patches... Cotton Candy...Honeycomb...Posey and Starflower! Am I right?" "The red balloon and the blue kite patches are ours," cried Surprise and Skyflier. "Do you remember how you won the balloon race and flew the highest kite one day on Windy Hill?" Dame Dimity nodded. "But I think I had a little help from Gusty," she said with a chuckle. "That's what friends are for," replied Gusty with a smile. "Do you like my lollipop tree and Lickety-Split's ice-cream bush?" asked Tootsie. "Indeed, I do, I shall certainly miss those when I got to live in the Land of Heart's Desire," said the old lady. "Happy hooves, no you won't...have you forgotten all your wishes will be granted there?" Majesty reminded her. "You will only have to wish and Lickety-Split and Tootsie will send you as many lollipops and ice-creams as you can eat." "And it means that I can wish for all of you to visit me in my new home," cried Dame Dimity as Medley and the flying ponies piled her belongings into baskets to fly them to her cottage. "Please take care of my Quilt of Memories, I don't want to lose it!" And of course, she didn't. She slept under it in the summer, dreaming of the happy days by the sea and in winter she snuggled as warm as could be, dreaming of all the lovely times she had had with her little pony friends...and dreaming of what they would all do when the little ponies visited the Land of Heart's Desire.
STORY REQUEST MASQUERADE AND THE MAGIC MOONBEAM PART TWO
A magic moonbeam was taking Majesty to Wizard Wantall. He wanted the Pony Land Waterfall in exchange...
"It's all my fault," groaned Masquerade. "I disguise myself all the time, but I didn't guess that the Wizard was disguised." "Well, we thought he was the Man in the Moon too," said Medley. "Don't just talk. Do something!" shouted Spike. "Get Majesty back."
"I could take Majesty's magic pony shoes to her," said Whizzer. "They wouldn't break the spell, but she would be invisible."
"Wizard Wantall would see you!" scoffed Spike. "He might not," said Masquerade. "Whizzer moves ever so quickly."
Meanwhile, the magic moonbeam was keeping Majesty imprisoned in Wizard Wantall's enchanted garden. "How easy it was to trick Masquerade," gloated the Wizard. "She gave you my present, it brought you here, and soon the Waterfall will be here too!"
Whizzer had dropped the magic shoes! The next second, Majesty was invisible. "You still can't get away," shouted the Wizard.
"But I can twirl my magic horn and you won't be able to see me," thought Majesty. "Tonight, I'll make a waterfall appear."
Back at Dream Castle, Spike and the little ponies were making plans too. "Trickles will give you and Starshine her magic watering can," Spike told Masquerade. "Tonight you can make the Wizard a waterfall. He'll think it's our Waterfall and let Majesty return."
Soon, the Wizard will have two waterfalls, neither of them the one he wants. What will he do? Don't miss the next issue of My Little Pony!
Who's going to be Queen of the Carnival?
Surely it has to be Hopscotch. For the big day, she has chosen to wear her Carnival outfit of matching dress and feather hat. However the real centre of attention is Baby Lemon Drop's Stroller, which Hopscotch is parading. Like real toddlers, baby ponies can't walk very far. So a set of wheels makes a lot of sense. But no baby could have wished for a better baby carriage than this one. There's a petal-shaped sunshade to protect her, an opening tail-gate to let her in and out, all the little essentials such as a nappy, a nappy box and a travel rug, and a rainbow-coloured strap that fits over the back of most adult My Little Ponies. A Baby Pony Stroller complete with Baby Lemon Drop costs £8.99 or less; Hopscotch pony, £4.50 or less, and the Carnival outfit £2.99 or less. Colours and content may vary from those shown.
STORY REQUEST PINWHEEL AND THE PILLYWIGGINS
One day, Pinwheel was taking Baby Ribbon and Baby Gusty for a walk through Fantasy Forest.
"Look! The leaves on this tree are like fairy lights," laughed Baby Gusty. "Can I pick some for my scrap book?" Pinwheel shook her head. "They'd turn into ordinary leaves as soon as we left the forest. But you can pick one of these." Pinwheel blinked and...
"Baby Ribbon, look!" shouted Baby Gusty. "Pinwheel's made a special bush. Come and pick a pinwheel."
Suddenly, a strong wind blew through Fantasy Forest. "I didn't make it blow!" cried Baby Gusty.
"Pinwheel, look at that little umbrella, there are flowers inside it and they're picking the pinwheels!" shouted Baby Ribbon. The flowers turned and the ponies saw three little figures. "We are Pillywiggins. Will you come and help us save our valley?"
"How can we help?" asked Pinwheel. "If you'll come, we'll tell you on the way. Catch an umbrella," said the Pillywiggins.
"We used to mill flour for the fairy baker, but a sprite hid all the sails of our windmills, and now we can't work."
Soon, the umbrellas floated down to a silent valley where Pillywiggins were sitting around looking sad.
"Here's the sprite," whispered the Poppy Pillywiggin. "Don't be cross with him for anything he does. Just laugh at him."
"That's right!" chuckled sprite. "If you get cross I'll hide you away for ever. They got cross, so I hid the windmill sails."
"We've brought these pinwheels to use as sails," said the Poppy Pillywiggin, to the others. "Take them to the windmills."
"Could you make us some more pinwheels?" begged the Pillywiggins. Pinwheel blinked...as a pinwheel bush appeared, the sprite began to tie the baby ponies' manes together. Baby Gusty was about to get cross, but Baby Ribbon laughed. "You can't hide us!"
"I can hide you," said the sprite. "I can make you follow me." He made a strange sign and the baby ponies followed him!
The sprite hid the baby ponies in a maze. "You'll stay hidden for ever if the Pillywiggins get cross," he laughed.
Meanwhile, Pinwjeel and the Pillywiggins had placed pinwheels where the sails used to be on the windmills. "We'll use our magic windflowers to make the pinwheels turn," laughed the Pillywiggins. "Baby Gusty can help. Where is she?" asked Pinwheel.
"I've hidden the baby ponies," said the sprite. "That's what I do all the time, hide things. But I do help, too."
"Where are the baby ponies?" asked one of the Pillywiggins. "It was a funny idea to hide them, sprite. Very funny."
Everyone remembered to laugh so the sprite found the baby ponies. "He's not really bad," said the Pillywiggins. "It's just the way his magic works. He'll help us mill the flour. Thanks to your pinwheels, our valley is saved. Come back soon, we'll give you a party."
PINWHEEL'S CORNER
Hello, I hope Wayne and Claire Cookson, of Hanham, Bristol, enjoyed the story about the Pillywiggins. It was a story request especially for them. I like things that twirl round, when I went back to see the Pillywiggins they gave me a toy windmill. Ask mum or dad to help you and you could have a toy windmill too.
Cover a round salt box with coloured or patterned paper, you can use white paper and design your own coloured patterns on it. Draw half a circle (use the bottom of the salt box as a guide and make your half circle slightly bigger) onto another piece of paper. Cut it out, curl it around and secure it with sticky tape on the top of the salt box. Draw a 12cm square and mark it out as shown on the diagram. Cut along the broken lines as far as indicated. Ask mum or dad to do the next bit for you: fold every other corner to the centre and secure with a long pin. Add a small bead to your pin, then push the pin into the salt box.

THE FASHION SHOW
"I do think it was a good idea of Megan's to have a Fashion Show", said Blossom to her friends, as they decorated the platform with garlands of flowers.
"Lemon Drop, have you any rosettes to spare?" called Confetti, as she hurried up to the Show Stable. "Pony feathers, I haven't," replied Lemon Drop. "You're too late, Confetti. Bubbles had my last one to make herself a garter."
"Heavy hooves!" sighed Confetti. "I've run out of red paper, so I can't make myself one."
"Confetti!" barked Brandy. "Why don't you go and find Junk It? He's gone to collect some ferns for us."
"What a good idea," said Confetti, "I'll go to Ferny Forest and find him. He's sure to have some red paper."
"Confetti, wait!" called Baby Blossom. "Will you make us some paper ponies? I've brought some gold paper."
"I'll make them later," promised Confetti. "I'm going to find Junk It first," and the little pony hurried away.
When Baby Blossom got back, she saw Junk It on the platform! "Confetti's gone into the forest to find you," she said.
"I was in the forest, on my way to collect some ferns," said Junk It. "Then I found these flowers and thought you'd like them to decorate your platform. I'll go back for the ferns now," and he hurried away. "They are beautiful flowers," said Posey.
As Confetti hurried along the forest path, she heard someone crying. "I left them there, I know I did. Where can they be?"
"What have you lost?" asked Confetti, looking at the prettiest fairy she'd ever seen. "Don't cry, I'll help you find it."
"I've lost my posy of butterfly flowers," said the fairy. "I'm getting married in one hour. It's my wedding posy."
Just then, some pixies arrived. "We can't find your posy anywhere," they said. "You can't be the June Bride without it."
"I'll make you some gold butterfly flowers," said Confetti, suddenly remembering her bag of gold paper.
Before long, Confetti had made a beautiful posy of paper butterfly flowers. The fairy smiled happily.
"You must come to my wedding," said the fairy, hugging Confetti. "You can be my guest of honour."
"Hurry, hurry," said the pixies. "You haven't got long to get ready. We must go back to the Fairy Glen."
"Oh, how pretty everywhere looks," said Confetti, when they reached the Fairy Glen. "I do like your little houses on wheels." "We are travelling fairies," explained Confetti's new friend. "We come to this glen every year for a June Wedding."
"Shall we decorate the guest of honour?" asked the pixies. The fairy nodded and they led Confetti away.
Soon, Confetti's tail and mane were covered with tiny flowers and ferns. The ceremony was about to begin.
Confetti walked proudly behind the fairy, holding a lace train gently in her mouth. A pixie band played a pretty little tune on fairy bells while the Fairy Queen waved her wand of happiness over the June Bride.
Suddenly, during the flower feast, Confetti remembered the Fashion Show. "I won't have time to make my outfit now!"
Confetti explained that she'd been looking for Junk It when she'd heard the fairy crying. "I was going to dress as a red rose."
"It's our tradition to give the guest of honour the bride's outfit," said the Fairy Queen.
The pixies soon altered the bride's outfit and put it on Confetti. "I'll call it Wedding Bells," she said.
Firefly had brought Megan to the Fashion Show. Confetti arrived just in time. "I used the gold paper to make a wedding posy," she said, looking at the butterfly flowers Junk It had brought. "But here are some bells. Start the show!" laughed Megan.
THE NEEDLE IN THE HAYSTACK
One day Honeycomb Peachy and Bow Tie were making their way home to Dream Castle through the Feather Fields which were on the edge of Farmer Barleycorn's land. "No wonder Tickle spends so much time here," giggled Bow Tie. "The grass tickles you as you walk along...just like a feather! Pony feathers, stop it grass...ha-ha...ha-ha!" But the feathery grass kept on tickling the little ponies, and they laughed and laughed as they walked along. As they came out to the next field large haystacks were drying in the sun, Peachy said, "Listen, someone's crying!" "It's little Bella Barleycorn!" said Honeycomb. "What's wrong, Bella...can we help?" "No one can help me," sobbed Bella. "I want to marry Seamus the shepherd..." "Happy hooves...we all like Seamus...he often plays duets on his pipes with Medley!" interrupted Peachy happily. "Can we come to your wedding?" "There won't be a wedding...unless father changes his mind," cried Bella. "He wants me to marry Farmer Dumpling whose land adjoins our fields! But he's old and as fat as..." "A dumpling!" cried all the little ponies together. "Seamus is handsome and good...and clever!" said Bella. "His pipes can call back the sheep no matter how far away they have strayed!" "But Seamus is poor and Farmer Dumpling is ruch," said Bow Tie beginning to understand. "Yes," agreed Bella nodding her head. "But father says I can still marry Seamus is he can find a needle which I am to hide in that haystack over there! But it is an impossible task...see...here they come now!" "Don't despair, Bella!" cried Bow Tie. "Quickly, give me the needle before your father gets here!" "It's a darning needle with the largest hole I can find," said Bella, as she gave it to Bow Tie. "But I'm sure that Seamus will never be able to find it!" "Pony feathers, he will now! Here hide it quickly!" chuckled Bow Tie. And he handed back the needle to Bella...with a long narrow red ribbon flowing out of the eye of the needle. "Oh, Bow Tie, what a clever idea!" cried Bella, as she thrust the needle deep into the hay, burying it completely out of sight...just as her father and Seamus arrived. "Find the needle, Seamus, and my daughter shall be yours!" laughed the farmer merrily. "Good luck, Seamus!" cried the little ponies. Seamus started to look through the day and a moment later he spied the long thread of red ribbon. He pulled it out...and at the end was the needle! Farmer Barleycorn looked very cross as the young shepherd handed him the needle. "You never said the needle was not to be threaded, father," said Bella. "No, I didn't," admitted the farmer, his face breaking into a smile. "Very well, you and Seamus shall be married...and I will build you a little cottage in Feather Fields!" "Oh thank you," cried Bella, hugging her father. "And thank you Bow Tie for helping Seamus to find my needle in the haystack. It was clever of you to think of it!" Bow Tie was clever, wasn't she?

MASQUERADE AND THE MAGIC MOONBEAM FINAL PART
Majesty's invisible; a prisoner in Wizard Wantall's garden. He wants the Pony Land Waterfall. Soon he'll get two waterfalls!
"Will the water from your magic watering can look like our Waterfall?" Masquerade asked Trickles. "It will if Sprinkles and Duck Soup fly through it," replied Trickles. "I'll make it sparkle with moonbeams. Proper moonbeams!" The Man in the Moon came in.
"I woke him up," explained Whizzer, "and told him about the Wizard's trick. I knew he'd want to help us."
"Indeed I do," said the Man in the Moon. "How dare the Wizard pretend to be me!" "Watch the watering can!" shouted Spike.
"You stay here and have a sleep," Masquerade told the Man in the Moon. "We'll go down to the Waterfall and tell Sprinkles and Duck Soup our plan, then come back here." "We can't wait until tonight!" cried Sprinkles. "Look, Wizard Wantall sent this."
"A paper aeroplane message," said Spike. "Bring it here, Duck Soup, what does it say?"
"Wizard Wantall wants the Waterfall in one hour," sighed Masquerade. "It'll still be light. How can we trick him?"
"Skydancer can dance around us and hide the watering can," said Starshine. "Here she is now."
The little ponies hurried back to Dream Castle and woke the Man in the Moon. "We'll have to go now," they explained.
The flowers in the Wizard's garden had told Majesty about the message. "I'll have to make my waterfall soon. I can't wait until tonight," whispered Majesty. "What a good job I'm invisible." Majesty didn't know the little ponies were on their way!
Soon, Wizard Wantall chuckled in delight as he saw Sprinkles and Duck Soup flying through a sparkling waterfall.
"You didn't really think I'd let Majesty go, did you?" he shouted. "Now I've got her and you Waterfall!"
Suddenly, the Wizard was standing under a waterfall. The one Majesty had made. "My waterfall has dissolved the magic moonbeam. I'm free," laughed Majesty, taking her pony shoes off. And her waterfall was so magic that it followed the Wizard wherever he went!
STORY REQUEST SUMMER STORM
"It's too hot to jump!" said Lemon Drop. "I never thought you would say that!" cried Posey looking at her flowers.
"Pony feathers, it's melting our ices before we have time to eat them!" grumbled Lickety-Split and Tootsie.
"I'll get you some water for your flowers," said Trickles. "That'll be warm too!" groaned the little ponies.
Even the Waterfall was down to a trickle. "I can't even have a wash to keep cool!" grumbled Bubbles.
"Majesty, can't you do something?" asked the little ponies, as they used Confetti's fans to keep cool.
"I think I know what's needed," cried Majesty. "Take cover in Dream Castle or the Show Stable..."
"We won't all fit in!" cried Tootsie. "I'll cover you all!" said Parasol, galloping up with a gigantic umbrella.
(Another example of switched pics and captions!)
Medley drummed on the cloud. "Drum harder! Make a really black storm cloud!" shouted Majesty.
"Medley, drum your hooves as hard as you can!" said Majesty. "Turn that white cloud to grey!"
The black cloud broke and rain poured from the sky. Down it came, filling the pool and making the Waterfall flow again.
When the rain stopped, everything was fresh and cool. "That's what happens after a summer storm," cried Majesty.
COTTON CANDY'S CORNER
Hello, Happy hooves! So many of you have written to ask if I can be on the back page with my own corner. Well, here I am, surrounded by all these lovely flowers. Tails and manes, I haven't eaten many, I'm trying hard to be a good little pony. I do wish I could have seen the Fairy Glen, their little houses on wheels must be fun to travel in. If you look at the instructions below, you'll see how to make a house, just like the fairies' houses. Ask a 'grown-up' to help with the cutting out and fixing the wheels on.
You need an empty cereal carton for the base, Cut away two thirds of the top of the carton as shown in diagram 1. Bend up half the remaining piece to make a seat, as in Diagram 2. Make the top out of corrugated paper that you've covered with patterned paper. Attach it to the inside of the carton with sticky tape as in diagram 3. Make the wheels from cheese portion boxes. Use unsharpened pencils for axles. Ask Mum or Dad to make holes in the wheels and the sides of the cereal carton for the pencils to go through. Attach wheels as in diagram 4. Wind thin thread around the outside edges of the two pencils to keep the wheels on. Make a cardboard handle and tape it on as in diagram 5.
The Summer Storm was especially for Fiona Florence's grandparents. Fiona lives in Sheddocksly, Aberdeen.
